Scosche wasted no time, and today announced the launch of their first 5th gen iPod Nano compatible case. Called the kickBACK n5, it’s made from a shatterproof clear polycarbonate and includes rubber bumpers in the event that you lose your grip. On the rear of the case is a kick stand for when you get tired of holding the player as well as a camera hole.
Scosche is selling them direct for $25 and has even tossed in a microfiber cleaning cloth.

It’s long been known that Apple would add cameras to their line of iPods. After all, it is the next evolutionary step for the portable media player, and we got wind of these rumors (here and here) sometime ago. Now, dozens of new iPod Nano and iPod Touch cases have emerged from the manufacturing plants in China lending more than enough credence to the long standing rumor to pretty much make them fact. Although some will be shocked by this news, I’m more in aw of the fact that Apple would let such new slip beyond their veil of secrecy.

You can forget about an iPhone Nano, at least as far as Tim Cook is concerned. Apple’s acting CEO said “You know us, we’re not going to play in the low-end voice phone business. That’s not who we are. That’s not why we’re here. We’ll let somebody do that, our goal is not to be the unit share leader in the phone industry. It is to build the best phone.” The remark was presumably made during Apple’s quarterly financial announcement. He also squashed the possibility, at least for now, that Apple will get into the Netbook game.
On a positive note, Apple reported a record quarterly profit of $1.6 billion on $10.17 billion in revenues.

I have no way of verifying this, but here’s a photo of the newest iPod Nano. Engadget scored it somehow – bastards.
Update: So the ‘<3′ stands for ‘love’ in IM speak. So who the hell is J.R? Perhaps a bitter Apple employee who was recently fired?

There’s been a ton of Internet speculation as to whether or not the next gen iPod Nano will be a throw back to the original’s long and narrow body. This was further propelled when a case and images of the new Nano apperaed on line last week. Now iLounge got their hands on a few drawing that perhaps confirm that the new Nano’s dimensions in addition to a slightly fatter iPod Touch.

Come one, come all (actually, it’s limited to invite only)! Apple will hold a special event on September 9, 2008. The event has been tagged ‘Let Rock’, thus insinuating it’s music/iPod focused. The Net is flush with rumors of a new Nano in the works, but I think Apple is going to start their own music label and announce it here in tandem with the new Nano. Call me crazy, but I’m throwing out the guess.
