Praise the lord for a weak iPhone battery!  Without them why would we need all these chargers?  Mophie, the minds behind the Juice Pack Air, are introducing some new charging solutions into the mix.

The first is a Wall & Car International USB Charger for $25 that features a 270 degree tilting arm to ensure a proper fit at almost any angle you could throw at it.  To make it truly international you’ll need to buy the additional plug adapters for $15.

Mophie is also debuting a new Dual USB Wall Charger ($20) that will help charge multiple devices at one time.

Finally, is the flush low-profile USB car charger for $15,  All of these new products can be found on sale at Mophie’s website.

Today, Mophie announced a new line of leather hip holster that hold your iPhone while it’s attached to a Juice Pack.  Using a premium leather, the hip holster will free up pocket space thanks to the belt clip and allow a more utilitarian approach to your daily entourage of styles.

The iPhone has become one of the most popular smartphones on the market today.  But, like many of today’s handsets that boast powerful processors, wireless connectivity and large touchscreens, the iPhone is plagued with a sometimes unreasonably short battery life.  To help you extend your iPhone’s battery, especially when in a pinch and short on space, here’s our list of top 5 iPhone battery backups.

Mophie JuicePack Air

As the slimmest full fledged battery pack on the market for the iPhone, the Mophie Juice Pack Air is clearly the leader.  It’ll provide more than 1 complete charge for your iPhone and won’t add that much bulk to the handset’s slender build. It also features an on/off switch so you can choose when to use the juice and on its rear is a set of battery indicator lights that are so Apple.  Available in purple, black and white for $80.  Check out our full review.

Griffin PowerReserve Duo

The PowerReserve Due combines a car charger, wall charger and backup battery pack in one for your iPhone.  The battery pack, which magnetically attaches to either unit (how cool is that?) charges while you charge the iPhone.  It won’t restore more than 25-30% of your iPhone’s battery, but it’s small, charges quickly, features LED battery lights and is great in a pinch.  It’s $60.  Check out our full review.

Incase PowerSlider

The  Incase Powerslider is similar to the Mophie Juice pack but offers a bit more protection for dings and bumps to your iPhone.  On the back of the case are 5 LEDs which indicate how much battery juice is left.  The bottom features a mini USB plug for syncing your iPhone and charging the battery pack, which means you never have to remove the case. It’s $80.

Casemate Fuel

The Casemate Fuel probably isn’t the most stylish iPhone battery pack, but it is the only one in this list with the always nerd certified clip.  The maker claims an additional 9 hours of talk time which almost doubles the iPhone’s battery life and unlike some of the others, there is an on/off switch for engaging the extra juice when you choose to.  It’s $79. iPWR SuperPack External iPhone Battery

Like some of its competitors the iPWR Superpack also more than doubles the iPhone’s battery life.  Unfortunately, it greatly extends the length of the iPhone making it not so portable.  But on the contrary.  You see, the iPWR is actually the smallest and full powered of all the battery packs making it ideal for slipping into a pocket.  You can grab one in white or black for $60.

We’ve been anticipating the arrival of Mohpie’s Juice Pack Air.  So much so in fact that we requested one for review two months ago when it was first announced.  Today, the Juice Pack Air officially went on sale for the $79.95 at all Apple retail locations and Mophie’s website.  This new and updated version adds just .75-inches of thickness to your iPhone 3G and is now the world’s thinnest of its type.

Apple’s latest 3G iPhone has dominated the smartphone market with good reason. Its touch screen makes using the phone a joy and its storage and audio capacity makes it an excellent music player. Probably the weakest link of the iPhone is its relatively limited battery life. Unless you only use your iPhone to make telephone calls, chances are good you’ll never get through an entire day without needing to recharge its batteries. Since you may not always be near a convenient electrical outlet or USB port on a computer, you may want to invest in a portable battery pack that can power your iPhone. One of the more stylish iPhone battery packs is the Juice Pack from Mophie.

The Juice Pack is basically a battery embedded inside a protective case. Plugging the iPhone into the battery is as simple as slipping the iPhone inside the Juice Pack. The manufacturer claims that the Juice Pack can extend talk time and Internet use time up to 6 hours, video playback up to 8 hours, and audio playback up to 28 hours. However you use your iPhone, the Juice Pack insures that you’ll never need to worry about running out of power in the middle of the day again.

Charging the Juice Pack takes about 3 hours. Just plug in the included USB cable to the USB port of your computer and you’ll be able to recharge the Juice Pack and synchronize your data at the same time.
When plugged into the Juice Pack, your iPhone can still play audio and take pictures with its built-in camera. Surprisingly, the Juice Pack doesn’t block the iPhone’s external speakers so music sounds just as good as if the Juice Pack wasn’t even there.

To help you monitor the Juice Pack’s power, you can press a button on the back that illuminates zero to four lights. A full charged Juice Pack illuminates all four lights while a Juice Pack with less power will illuminate fewer lights.

Despite its added bulk, the Juice Pack doesn’t interfere with the slim size and weight of the iPhone. You will notice the added weight and thickness, but after a day or two carrying your iPhone plugged into the Juice Pack, you shouldn’t notice much difference at all.

For $99.95, the Juice Pack is reasonably priced, especially if you frequently travel and can’t recharge your iPhone during the day. If you can’t afford to let your iPhone’s batteries die on you, then the Juice Pack will be a wise investment.

Pros:

• Light weight
• Extends the iPhone’s battery life dramatically
• Doesn’t interfere with the iPhone’s ordinary use

Cons:

• $99.95 may be a bit pricey for some people
• Thickness of the Juice Pack adds bulk and weight to the iPhone
