If you’re still pining after a touchscreen Mac and can’t hold out any longer for the long rumored Apple Tablet computer, well, you’re in luck, kind of. More like in debt considering the prices I’m about to tell you about.
Troll Touch, whose apparently been outfitting Macs with touch resistive screens for sometime now, just announced the availability of their latest batch of touchscreen units for the newest iMacs and the Macbook White Unibody. For the iMac you can do it yourself for just $1,099, but that will only score you the smallest size. Or you can drop $3,699 for the largest iMac complete with touchscreen already installed. The Macbook version goes for $1,699 and that includes the machine.
At these prices I might concede and buy a Windows based machine. Also, it’s touch resistive, which we all know can be bit arduous to say the least, though the video above seems to prove otherwise.
Is this truly the splash page for the impending Macbook Touch? No one knows for sure but there are a few hints to indicate otherwise. The URL string lists Apple.com as opposed to Apple.com/macbooktouch. The ‘T’ in touch looks a bit odd, as if its a smaller font then the rest of the letters. Lastly, the source cites no source for the photo leading me to believe that it is shameless self promotion.

In a some what surprising move, Apple enhanced the specs of their white Macbook, the last of the old Macbook line. Processor speed has been increased from 2.0Ghz to 2.13Ghz, RAM speed from 667 MHz to 800 MHz, and lastly increased hard drive capacity from 120GB to 160GB. They’ve also bumped the computer’s battery life to 5 hours while operating wirelessly. And believe it or not, the price remains at $999.
About two months ago I dropped some of my hard earned cash on brand new (now the old body) 15-inch Macbook Pro. On occasion I hit up my local coffee shop, which requires me to pack up my stuff, laptop included, and go mobile. You’re gonna cringe when you read this, but for about a few months I was wrapping my computer in some left over bubble wrap and tossing it in my bike bag. Awful, I know. So after many precarious to and fro carries to the coffee shop I decided it was time I protect my investment. What I ended up with is by far the best and most sturdy laptop sleeve I’ve ever crossed paths with: The Vyper M2 from Booq bags.
I looked at all the other cases on the market and they all seemed to be rebranded versions of the same Neoprene sleeve. Not so with the Vyper M2. It’s crafted of Ballistic Nylon, which is more or less marketing speak for a semi hard case made of tightly wound Nylon. The outer casing is rigid enough that you can achieve a ‘knock’, but flexible in that its not like carrying a college book in your bag. On the inside is a soft and somewhat thin layer of padding, but matched with the hard outer shell it is suffice to say that the Vyper M2 might just protect a laptop down a short flight of stair, or at the very least narrow coffee shop doorway. …Continue reading: Gadget Review: Booq Vyper M2 15-inch Macbook Pro Sleeve

Ever wondered how Axiotron coverts Apple’s Macbook into a Modbook? The below is a time lapse video detailing the process in about 2 minutes. It’s an interesting watch and you really have to appreciate the stop motion photography and patience that has been employed.
The Macbook Air turned out to be one of Apple’s most underwhelming laptops, so it’s not like this rumor is all that exciting to begin with. Regardless, though, according to Apple.pro, Apple will launch a 15-inch Macbook Air sometime later this year. Ahhh, sweet, I guess.
When Apple released their latest batch of Macbooks they failed to satisfy our big screen lust and intro a retooled version of their 17-inch Macbook Pro. Well kids, Macworld is less than 48 hours away and rumor says Apple will release a 17-inch Unibody Macbook Pro. Oddly, the rumor also says that the battery will not be totally user accessible, which means reliving the iPhone disappointment once again.
No word on price, but if the 17-inch Macbook Pro shows up next week, you can probably expect it to ship in January.
