Got a home project to complete this holiday? Perhaps it involves hanging a shelf, some paintings or simply straightening out that paint job you started last year.

Well, look no further than the Black & Decker All-In-One SureGrip Laser Level. Unlike other laser levels, this one adheres to the wall using a suction cup mount. In theory it can mount to just about any flat surface, that is assuming it’s non-porous. It shouldn’t leave a mark since the suction cup is crafted from rubber and finished with a silicone ring.

For jobs that place the laser level out of sight, an audible tone will emit when it’s level. And in the event you can see what you’re doing you can use the bubble level to achieve a 180 degree plane, which as it happens turns from red to green when you’ve acquired symmetrical bliss. It’s not entirely clear, but the laser seems to rotate using some sort of magnetic system, which allows you to make micro adjustments as well as aim the laser left or right.

You can pick up the Black & Decker BDL100AV All-In-One SureGrip Laser Level from Amazon for $24.98. Add a small item to your cart and you’ll get free shipping at $25.

It’s that time again…when you eagerly count down the hours, minutes and, for some, minutes until your weekend festivities begin. But before you run out of the office, check out all the cool and exciting things that went down in the tech world for the week! From a Star Wars AT-AT Dog Costume to a .22 Caliber Gun Knife and even a Floating Magnetic Lamp, we’ve compiled some interesting reads to help entertain you while you do your weekend countdown. Enjoy!

8. BOSE OE2 Headphones

BOSE has released a new set of headphones, the OE2i and the OE2. The OE2i includes an inline mic that’s supposed to work with the iPhone, but features the same specs as the OE2. Both are lighter and smaller than BOSE’s original on-ear headphones and use memory foam, making them comfortable to wear. The OE2 and OE2is are available now in black or white for $149.95 and $179.95 respectively.

7. Tagg GPS Dog Tracker

Never worry about losing your canine friend thanks to the innovative new Tagg GPS Dog Tracker. As a very small device, simply attach it to your pet’s collar and you can log into the company’s website to track your dog. You can also setup a zone notification so that Fido doesn’t leave the confines of the zone. For $199.95, the Tagg’s master kit includes the tracker, a battery charger, USB and AC plug, as well as a year’s service.

6. Star Wars AT-AT Dog Costume

In celebration of Halloween why not dress up Fido in this cute and unique Star Wars AT-AT costume. It’s custom made by Katie Mello, but we’re sure you can have a professional seamstress replicate it.

5. Real Life-Like Masks from Real-f

The Japanese company, Real-f, is offering a life-like photocopy of your face or head to hand on your wall. Sounds freaky, but, hey, some people like that sort of stuff. So the digital images are printed on to an image on vinyl chloride resin stretched over a mold and then shipped to you to display.

4. Floating Magnetic Lamp

The Light-Light looks like a normal light, but the top – or really the lip of the lamp – is wireless, which lights up and floats freely above the base unit due to a set of magnets and innovative engineering minds (the company is called Crealev). The lights are pretty pricey, which is what you’d expect from some next level lighting like this. The price tag starts at $1,300.

3. iTar: The iPad Guitar

The iTar transform your iPad into a guitar thanks to Starr Labs’ patented button-based guitar fretboard. But the iPad’s touchscreen can also be converted into a “keytar” (piano guitar) or even a drum set, making the possibilities almost limitless! Since Starr Labs is a small shop they’ve created a donation campaign, with $200 minimum to get your own version.

2. SpyNet Laser Trip Wire

Set up a laser trip wire anywhere you want to protect some goods or valuables using The SpyNet Laser Trip Wire system. It comes with a transmitter that beams a laser to a receiver unit, in addition to two mirror units to expand its reach around corners and through doorways. If someone, or something, crosses its path an alarm will go off to notify you of an intruder.

1. A .22 Caliber Knife Gun

A knife that doubles as a gun…only on YouTube! This deadly weapon not only has the ability to cut and stab, but it also shoots thanks to a .22 caliber chamber. Where are the bullets you ask?

Laser pointers are not toys kids. Point them in the wrong direction and you might get punched in the face, or worse, arrested by the cops.

Now, we know what you’re thinking: “I must look like an ant from those flying airships, how can they tell where I am?” But after you watch this video, you’ll think otherwise, as you’ll witness the suspect go from shining a laser pointer at a police helicopter to the cruisers rolling up and throwing him in handcuffs. Clearly the dude wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, but he sure was brightest!

Khet 2.0 by ThinkGeek is knocking on your doors like heat from Egypt when those really long winds bring it. To your door.

ThinkGeek predicts you’re ‘gonna flip’ over Khet 2.0 Laser Game if you liked Khet. I say few people flipped over Web 2.0, so chances of them flipping over Khet 2.0 are slim.

But back to Khet. With four types of playing pieces, and two of them having mirrors, the possibilites of shining a laser beam into your own eye aren’t exactly mind-bending, but they are numerous. Lasers are curtesy of Sphinx pieces, sitting lonely in a corner and rotating their laser heads towards whatever strikes their fancy. Bouncy-bouncy goes the laser, from piece to piece, until it hits a non-reflective piece, or someone’s eye, in which case, out goes the piece, or the eye.

Folks, this ain’t exactly chess, for many reasons, foremost amongst them is the lack of eye eviscerations in the history of the noble art, except for that one time when a grandmaster got really drunk. But since I’m a nice guy, I’ll tell you to buy Khet 2.0, if gameplay doesn’t pan out for you, trimming your moustache by laser will forever be an option.

This thing AIN’T no retina scanning device. In fact, it does something completely the opposite. It’s a laser. The device, the Photonic Fence, comes from the folks at Intellectual Ventures Laboratory. It tracks and kills mosquitos using a laser (enter Dr. Evil voice). But it doesn’t just kill any mosquito, it only kills the females, the blood suckers.

So why not just use some sort of chemical to eradicate the little beasts? Chemicals are dangerous, cause cancer and kill off other wildlife.

Most might consider the need to operate a mouse on a glass surface a rather moot and gimmicky marketing feature, but not me. I hate my mouse pad and feel like I have a doormat living on my desk. I present to you the Logitech Performance MX mouse. It uses a technology called Darkfield Laser Tracking technology, which I assure you won’t annihilate any humans but reflects the laser off the imperfections in the glass; one caveat though, the glass has to be at least 4mm thick.

Dvice got their hands on one and did a little video demo. Although the video shows it clearly working, if you look closely there is a bit of juttering when the Performance MX mouse is being used on glass, leading me to believe that the tech is not 100% sound.

The Performance MX mouse will be available later this month along with the smaller Anywhere Mouse MX for $100 and $80 respectively.

Some of us would only be so lucky to have a library of DVDs that reaches as far as the eye can see, or a pantry stuffed so full of food it goes stale before consumption. So how do you manage your vast amount of worldly goods? Pen and paper, excel spreadsheet? Wrong. You seek refuge in the organized world of bar code.

The Intelliscanner is a handy little tool that reads barcodes. It can scan up to 250 items in one sitting and plugs into your computer via USB where it dumps the collected codes into the included software. It then subsequently looks up the products info and creates a database. Perfect for keeping track of your DVD, wine or beer collection. Additionally, it can assist in create shopping lists. Just scan the used products, plug it in and a list of ‘to be purchased’ products is created.

You can grab one for $250.
