While it’s not nearly as cool as the Morphpad, Brando’s Rii Mini Wireless Keypad should gets the prize for runner up. At a glance you can see that it’s a full QWERTY keyboard with a touchpad, which Brando is quick to point out will work in any orientation. It connects to your device of choice using a 2.4Ghz wireless USB dongle, so smartphones you’re out. And get this, there’s even a built-in laser pointer and 26 LED lights! Brando says the battery life is up to “1 mouth”, but I think they mean 1 month, unless of course the battery is only good for one single Power Point presentation, than “mouth” might be right. …Continue reading: Rii Mini: A Pocket Sized Wireless Keyboard With Built-in Trackpad

Morphpad: Gamepad, Touchpad And QWERTY Keyboard In One (video)
March 1st, 2010 3:56 PM | by Christen da Costa
It might look like your standard QWERTY keypad but it ain’t, I can assure you of that, as can the below video. Pelikon’s Morphpad, which is targeted at OEM handset manufactures, can switch from QWERTY to a numeric keypad just by rotating the device 90 degrees. But the morphing doesn’t stop there. The keypad can transform into a gaming pad just by rearranging the backlighting of the keys as well as double as a giant touchpad for a computer.
Who knows when, how and whom it will come to market. Perhaps the next iteration will include an e-ink display, much like the Samsung Alias 2.
MSI Mini Air Mouse
February 22nd, 2010 2:33 PM | by Christen da Costa
Remember that Cideko Air Mouse keyboard we saw last June? MSI is set to release their own branded version. The technology looks to have remained the same, using an air mouse (i.e. accelerometer) as opposed to a trackpad or trackball, which sounds rather flawed to me. Max range is 50 meters with a 50 hour battery life. Expect it on sale this quarter for about $100.
Keyboard Handbag

Another just in time Valentine’s Day gift comes this eye catching keyboard purse from Portuguese artist/designer Joao Sabino. Constructed from 393 individual keyboard keys, Jessica Chobot would rock one of these with a passion.

Priced at $180, this ain’t nothing in comparison to what some women will spend on a purse/handbag. Available in a variety of bright and attractive colors.
Corky: A Self Powered Mouse
February 10th, 2010 3:30 PM | by Christen da Costa
Don’t be fooled by Corky’s soft exterior, this mouse means business, self charging business. Scrolling, clicking and moving Corky activates its piezoelectric elements generating enough energy to charge itself. We’ve seen this tech in floors before, but never in a mouse. Come to think of it a keyboard would be an excellent candidate for this tech as well.
Right now it’s design, by Adele Peters is a concept only but here’s hoping.
