JVC’s newest camera, the GC-PX10 (here’s the older version, the GC-PX1), can capture 12 megapixel photos, full HD video and up to 60 shots per second.

The physical bulk of this camera is derived from its over sized lens – take a look at the backing and you’ll notice how slim it is.  Under the hood is the FALCONBRID high speed image sensor, which was first seen in the GS-TD1, JVC’s first full 3D HD camcorder.  On top of 12 megapixel photos at a 6400 ISO, it can capture 8.3 megapixel shots while recording full 1080 vide0, and snag slow-mo video at 300fps, provided you’re willing to deal with VGA resolution.

With the exception of JVC’s recently released 3D camcorder, we haven’t followed the company’s product line too closely.  That is until Impress got their hands on the soon to be released GX-PX1.  It’s boasts the form factor of both a camera and camcorder.

That lens you see has a 10x optical zoom, while the back of the device, which is more than notably slim and sports a 3-inch, 230k touchscreen LCD that twist and turns to whatever angle you need.  In addition to capturing 10 megapixel photos, the GX-PX1 can record full HD video at 60fps.  There’s also optical image stabilization, 32GB of storage built-in and an SD card slot for expansion.

The GX-PX1 arrives sometime later this month, but when, where and for how much is currently unknown.

JVC is busting out the heavy artillery in the prosumer niche, wih a Full HD 3D camcorder that comes with 64GB of internal Flash memory and a 5x optical zoom, and costs $1699.

The zoom itself is no small fear for a 3D camcorder, and with a very luminous F1.2 twin lens, the GS-TD1B is sure to stand out. Playback on the 3.5 inch LCD is in 3D,without any funky glasses needed.

With the widest angle on the lenses being 29.5mm, and image stabilization for both 2D and 3D, two CMOS sensors allow for 1920×1080 recording with a 34Mbps bitrate in 3D, and 24Mbps 2D bitrate.

But what I’d really like to see is one of these 3D camcorders offering to use both sensors and lenses for side-by-side recording in 2D, with a very wide aspect and higher resolution.

The home theater setup, while appealing, can be a bit aesthetically intrusive on one’s living room, not to mention challenging from a technical know-how when it comes to setup.  So it’s no surprise to us that we’ve seen the soundbar, an all in one virtual surround sound speaker, grow in popularity along side the now ubiquitous flat screen TV.
