So apparently someone’s finally got a handle on the perfect way to handle your iPod nano, allowing you to change it on the fly from portrait to landscape orientation and help in your taking of hand-held video.
It’s called the Kickster, and they sell for just over fourteen bucks. The Kickster is essentially a flip-down tab that gives you a place to set your iPod so that it angles up ninety degrees, turning vertical into horizontal.
While close relative the kickBACK n5 got roundly slammed as being absurd, the Kickster seems to be doing just fine in the court of public opinion. Of course, you could probably do the same job with one of those two dollar picture frames with two hooks, or just some duct tape and a ruler, but they probably don’t look as cool as this.
Seems if you want to shift your iPod ninety degrees to the left or right, the Kickster is the way to go.

While I’m not going to go as far as calling Radiopaq’s Sound Jacket snake oil, my skepticism is most certainly abound. Built specifically for the 4th gen iPod Nano the device is said to increase not only the amplitude of the portable MP3 player but enhance your MP3 tracks, that is assuming they’re in MP3. The maker claims at most a 60% audible performance of any song – something akin to having an EQ setting for each song that adjusts levels at any given moment. Looks like it isn’t on sale just yet, but apparently it will sell for about $114.

It wasn’t too long ago that a rumor emerged that Apple was to add cameras to their line of iPods. Now iLounge says their inside source has provided enough detail on the next generation Nanos to produce an accurate mockup as depicted above.
As you can see the camera takes a rather low position on the Nano’s back, which is rather counter intuitive when you think about where your hand would be while gripping the player. Additionally, they say the screen’s aspect ratio has gone from 1.33:1 to 1.5:1 and the click wheel as well as the center button has been shrunk in size. Supposedly it will debut sometime between July and September; I’m going to say Julyish so that they can capture the ‘back to school’ crowd, although traditionally this time of year has been used to sell of excessive stock.

It’s official, this is the new iPod Nano 4G: sleeker, longer, bigger screen, 8/16GB capacity, and accelerometer for automatic portrait/landscape video modes (confirming the leaked nano post). Snazzy.

Is this the new, 4th gen iPod Nano? I don’t know, but folks are saying so. Only time will tell.
