There’s been a lot of iPhone apps for musicians since the launch of the App Store, but getting the iPhone set up to be legible while you’re strumming your Strat can be a hassle. The Guitar Sidekick is a simple device that aims to fix that. It attaches to the head of your guitar and lets you view an iPhone, iPod Touch, Android smartphone and even the PSP while you play. It rotates into either a portrait or landscape view, and doesn’t affect the guitar’s tuning. It’s available now for $29.99.

Are you freaking serious? Who would ever thought that the toilet plunger design could be repurposed and branded for the iPhone, or any smartphone for that matter. The iPlunge is a stick with a suction cup mounted on one end. Just adhere and lay your phone back. The funky device works in portrait or landscape mode, though I’d be a bit weary in portrait mode.

Expect it this August for $6.

If you thought that the iPhone headphone jack was limited to dishing out your favorite tunes to those white ear buds think again. A company called HMB TEC has developed a number of products (fan, laser pointer, stethoscope, microphone, infrared remote, thermometer) that plug directly into the 3.5mm headphone jack of the iPhone and by using an included application can be controlled.

Oh the inspiration for products. Sure, there are justifiable times for those ‘oh yeah’ moments, but there is no rationalizing the iPhone Sausage Screen Stylus from Case Crown.

Last month the blogosphere blew up with news that folks in Korea were using real edible sausages to control their iPhones so they didn’t have to remove their gloves. And hence Case Crown inspiration for their $1 product.

Stupid, really stupid, especially seeing as there are quite a few gloves on the market with iPhone friendly finger tips.

I really gotta hand it to PhoneSuit. Why? Because, they continue to stick to their guns and battle it out in the iPhone accessory market. Although I wasn’t floored with their first battery back, the Mili Pro iPhone Video Projector looks to be the stuff dreams are made of. They’ve combined a tiny LCOS LED projector with their battery pack to produce a highly portable – palm sized in fact – projector that can display up to a 40-inch 640×480 image (it can go as large at 70-inches, but 40 is optimal). There is no official word on playback time, but it does include a built-in speaker, RCA inputs, a 10 lumen output and is compatible with all iPhones and iPods. Price of the Mili Pro iPhone Video Projector is TBD and you can expect it to arrive this September just in time for the holidays.

With iPhone aftermarket products easily overwhelming consumers by sheer numbers alone, it’s easy to get lost in the landfill when it comes to choosing something you like. The Griffin Elan Form Graphite case for the iPhone 3G is a stylish and affordable way to outfit your most precious cellular device.

Sporting a faux carbon fiber aesthetic, the Elan Form Graphite looks like something Euro trash would scoff at cuz there’s no large emblazoned logo on it telling other Euro trash how expensive it is. The front side has a nice darkened chrome beam running along the perimeter that adds a layer of sophistication to your iPhone not often seen with this type of inexpensive case. Honestly all the Griffin stuff looks great.

The case splits along the bottom half that allows for easy removal for docking and such. The case also came with a screen protector film but I have the hardest time getting those things to be void of air bubbles and I don’t really think the iPhone screen needs it anyway. All the controls and the camera are easy to use and it only adds minimal weight and girth when at rest in your pocket. Gripping the case is also unobtrusive and one handed operation is unhindered.

I really have no gripes when it comes to the Elan Form Graphite. Like every case out there regular cleaning is required in order to remove the “daily debris” that tends to accumulate.

For being as cheap as it is, this case should appeal to all genders as it is attractive, lightweight and easy to dock. I even dropped it once on cement and the case only suffered minor cosmetic injuries at best. Of all the cases I have seen in my day, the Griffin Elan Form Graphite for the iPhone will be cooler than your buddies hands down.

Pros:

Attractive Euro Style

Dock Friendly

Lightweight and Girth Free

Cons:

Doesn’t Pay My Rent

Doesn’t End Energy Crisis

Doesn’t Fight Terrorism

Buy it here for $20!
