Just when I thought Sprint had begun to get their shit together, they go and officially introduce the Samsung Instinct HD. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about this device, but up until now we could only go on rumor and speculation when it came to specs.
Within Sprint’s official announcement, they’ve stated, and I quote that the Samsung Instinct HD “allows photo and video playback on an HD capable auxiliary device but it does not provide HD playback directly on the handset.” Damn, talk about taking the wind out of your own sail. Of course, this is more Samsung’s doing than Sprint, but that should mean a more affordable price tag, right? Wrong, you’ll be dropping $250 after a 2-year contact signing.
At least this version includes a 5 megapixel camera that can record HD video, and Samsung has also been kind enough to toss in Stereo Bluetooth, an accelerometer, visual voicemail, a full Opera Mobile 9.7 Web browser and WiFi connectivity.
Expect the Samsung Instinct HD to arrive on 9/27 at a Best Buy store near you.

While the details are a bit few and far between, we now know that Sprint will soon release an updated version of their Instinct S30, called the Instinct HD, thanks to a Best Buy flyer from over the weekend. This news comes on the heels of a recently leaked shot of the Android based Instinct, the Instinct Q. Unlike the Instinct Q, the Instinct HD lacks a full QWERTY keyboard and the Android OS, but makes up for it by including a 5 megapixel camera that can…

Would you look at that. I just dropped a post about the Instinct Mini and Sprint goes and officially announces the handset. So it looks like it won’t be named the Instinct Mini, but instead will take the moniker of ‘Instinct s30′. Aside from a refreshed form factor from the original Instinct, the Instinct S30 offers the same haptic touchscreen action, a 2MP camera and a Speech to Action button that lets users activate a myriad of functions such as ‘text, picture messaging, traffic, movie, sports, news and search’. Samsung has also conceded to the pressures of ‘open source’ and will provide access to core Java APIs which should allow creative developers to take advantage of all the handset has to offer.
Starting April 19th the Sprint Instinct S30 will be available online and in stores for $129.99 after a 2-year agreement and $100 mail-in-rebate.

Remember the rumored Samsung Instinct Mini from last week? Well, a very reliable source just told me that there might be (i.e. rumored) two, yes TWO Samsung Instincts in 2009. They also confirmed that the above picture is in fact called the Instinct Mini, will have a 3.2-inch LCD and that BGR’s purported release date of April 19th is very close to accurate. I don’t have any pics or additional details as of right now, so take it as you will, but hopefully I can firm up this info with some leaked pics soon enough. Happy Friday to you.
