Pull a gnarly trick on the slopes and you’ll probably regret not having a camera running to record your performance. That’s where Liquid Image steps in, who has been producing goggles for all types of terrain, even Scuba diving and snorkeling, for sometime now. At CES 2012 the company added their product line up and introduced Apex HD snow goggles, which boast built-in WiFi and a full HD camera.

Now, to be clear we’ve seen the same camera on their Impact Series cameras. It’s capable of capturing full HD video at 30 fps, 720p video at 60fps for those who don’t want to miss a frame of action as well as a 12-megapixel shooter. Now, from what we’ve understood, before this iteration, controlling the built-in camera required skiers to fumble around with a set of buttons directly on the mask. Hardly ideal when you’re all suited up and ready to go.

As a result, Liquid Image has now outfitted their goggles with built-in WiFi, allowing you to administer settings as well as obtain a live preview of the camera directly on your smartphone. Alternatively, a fellow skier could follow and change the settings, increasing the frame rate or activating the continuous still shooting mode. For those without a compatible smartphone there will also be an available remote, though no preview from our understanding. Last, but not least, the camera’s angle will be adjustable by tightening and loosening a hidden screw in the frame of the mask. Like previous Liquid Image masks, video and photos are recorded to a microSD card slot and can be uploaded via a USB connection to a computer at a later time.

The APEX HD will be available October, though another version, not designed for the slopes will arrive June. Expect them to start at about $300.

Amazon has some impressive savings available for this Nikon Coolpix S9100 Red Digital Camera!

We’re definitely happy to see this powerful camera from Nikon drop in price, and while its happened before Amazon is pushing an exceptional discount of about $150 upon us this time! This camera is capable of taking large 12.1-Megapixel photos and can do so on the go thanks to its compact design. Now don’t take it’s small size as a sign of weakness, for this camera packs an impressive 18x Optical Zoom lens for taking perfect close-up shots every time. This model is also capable of full 1080p High Definition video capture with sound and if that wasn’t enough its wide-angle lens includes image stabilization so that every shot comes out crystal clear without the need for that expert steady hand.

$179.95 is the final ship price for this camera after $149.05 in savings

The next iPhone might have been leaked well ahead of schedule – not that leaks are scheduled, but you know what we mean – but a few things still remain unclear. One of those things was whether or not the 4G iPhone could capture HD video, as in 720p motion picture. Now a few stray lines of code discovered in the SDK seem to indicate that in fact this feat will be possible. At this point it’s complete conjecture since the hardware has yet to be announced and if they so chose, as in Apple, they could just as soon pull the feature before launch or just never add it. Why’d they do that…well, it’s unlikely and to remain competitive against the likes of the DROID it seems more than inevitable that the 4th Gen iPhone will in fact capture 720p video.

Back in early April, Samsung released a trick video, which was recorded using the Samsung Omnia HD I8910. They asked viewers to guess how they made the phone disappear, but continue recording video. After almost 2,000 guesses, the creators behind the viral video has revealed their magical ways. In case you missed the initial video I’ve embedded that below as well.

Too bad many, many people guessed correct.

Ericsson of Sony Ericsson fame appears to be taking a new approach to towards the future of its cell phones. Instead of dreaming up new options in a never-ending quest to outdo the ‘cell phone Jones’s’, they seem more intent on improving the features already available.

Plans for 2012 are grandiose indeed, including first and foremost the inclusion of improved integrated cameras. Instead of opting for the more conventional 2 mega-pixels and even the 5-8 range, which is already pushing the envelope, they plan on having cameras equipped with 12 to 20 mega-pixels! While 12 may well be an acceptable goal, 20 is reaching quite high.

HD video recording is already a feature of digital imaging and adding this to the list of functionality for camera phones is well within reach. But Ericsson is determined to push the functionality aspect so that it equals that of the high-end camcorders of today. This would require a lot more storage for these phones. Ericsson is also focused on creating an extra speedy 1GHz processor and LTE100+ Mbps mobile broadband connection. It is hoped that along with these innovations which are known battery hogs, Ericsson is also thinking about power concerns as well.

Here’s to Ericsson’s innovations of the future!
