That’s not a typo, folks, that’s a strange little bit of news that’ll make your day just a little more surreal. I try to do that sort of thing wherever possible.

If you’ve got $3000, a lot of patience and anything with the Android operating system, then you too can buy and own a Plen, the “desktop hobby robot” controlled by the new Google OS.

Plen, through his Android handset controls, can perform a series of complex tasks, including posing, random things, and even skateboarding.

Only fifty of them will be made, making the Plen an instant collectible whether or not you have any way of controlling him. This actually represents an amazing, possibly game-changing point–imagine an eight foot tall Plen with a machine gun on each arm. Think that might render human soldiery largely obsolete? Yeah, I thought so too. And let’s not forget other hazardous duties like construction, demolition, bomb defusing…a whole host of things that might be subcontractable to remote controlled robots.

All right, folks, if you’ve been waiting anxiously to get your hands on the Motorola Cliq, you should be happy to know that they’re looking to start taking orders October 19th.

Seems the company actually released this date in a brochure, which was then photographed and began making the rounds. This handset will feature a touchscreen, and assures connectivity with your devices by both GPS and WiFi radio, and rumors suggest that Android 2.0 will come with the Cliq, so if you weren’t interested before, you might be now.

T-Mobile further threw some confirmation in by saying that they would start delivering product to their stores starting November 2nd. Add this all up and it means, chances are, you’ll be able to get a Cliq right soon.

If you never heard of the Pantech Duo handset, there is still enough time for redemption as its successor, the Pantech Duo 2, may very soon be available.

The Pantech Duo 2 has retained the alphanumeric keypad and QWERTY keyboard of its predecessor, and this Windows Mobile 6.1-powered handset comes with many features including: a dual slider that is less bulky than the original, a dual-band 850/1900 GSM/EDGE/WCDMA, a 2 mega pixel camera with video capture, Bluetooth connectivity and a microSD memory card slot.

Still in the making, the second coming of the Pantech Duo will hopefully prove to be a success. There is still no word about date of release, pricing or carrier availability, but it is likely that AT&T who carried the first version will be used again. The handset is expected to do well on the Korean market.

A fickle public awaits the debut of the Pantech Duo 2and …

Time alone will tell how this new handset will fare in the mobile phone marketplace among others of its ilk.
