Those of us out there looking for a great reusable water bottle to use on the go should keep reading. The H2Only bottle is made from stainless steel and filters out 99.99% of all pollutants found in drinking water. The bottle holds up to 25 ounces of water and would be a stellar gift to those who love clean and great tasting water.

Priced at $40, the filter will last for 12 months at heavy use to about 100 gallons. The Ionic-Adsorption Micro-Filtration system removes chemicals and sediments you may not have even heard of such as: Chromium 6, as well as other toxic chemicals, detergents, pesticides, and agricultural waste, arsenic, aluminum, zinc, asbestos, copper, lead, mercury, dirt, sediment, E-Coli Bacteria, DDT, MTBE, Benzene, and Chloroforms. can you believe all this gunk is in drinking water?

Each additional filter will cost $15. Having had a great experience with Hydracoach Intelligent Water Bottle, I’m always on the lookout for exceptional drinking water products.

The stones and charcoal should last up to 6 months under normal use and the pitcher itself is constructed from glass. Looks like a stellar gift idea for the budding wellness freak no doubt. The whole thing should cost around $94 with replacement stones and charcoal running at $21. On sale now.

If you’re anything like me, you’ve got an old cell phone or two laying around the house and you’re about dying to get rid of it. But you’ve got no idea where or how to dump it. We all know there are loads of hazardous material laws to grapple with, and those collection drives expect you to pay to dump your hardware.

Enter the EcoATM, a device the size of an actual ATM that’ll let you dump your hardware quick, easy, and sometimes, profitably. Simply drop your old phone or other device into the EcoATM’s slot, and the machine will determine if it has any value. The machine will then make you an offer for the device, which it will pay off from a separate slot, usually in the form of a gift card.

What if your device is worthless, you say? Not a problem–there’s no such thing as a worthless device to the EcoATM. Even if it has no residual value, you’ll still be able to leave the device with the EcoATM, but you’ll also get a “freebie item”, plus EcoATM will arrange for a tree to be planted in your honor somewhere, which still beats having to pay off the collection people all hollow.

EcoATM is actually doing pretty well so far–its first day in operation netted 23 phones and passed out a full hundred bucks in gift cards. Word is it got a BlackBerry Curve in prime condition. So chances are, this prototype will likely be coming to an electronics store near you.

Chances are, by now, in this age of “going green”, you’ve heard the old water control aphorism, “If it’s yellow, let it mellow; if it’s brown, flush it down”. Now, most people don’t like the thought of letting “yellow” sit in their bowl for any much longer than it takes to flush in the first [...]

Chances are, by now, in this age of “going green”, you’ve heard the old water control aphorism, “If it’s yellow, let it mellow; if it’s brown, flush it down”. Now, most people don’t like the thought of letting “yellow” sit in their bowl for any much longer than it takes to flush in the first place, but now, we no longer need to “let it mellow” like insane hippie flower children.

Gadgets once again come to the rescue of decent people’s toilet hygiene, folks, with the Brondell Perfect Flush. This device allows you to select a VARIABLE flush level, using a full flush for denser jobs and a “partial flush” for the lighter-weight material.

It’s entirely possible to reduce your water use between from thirty to fifty percent with the Brondell Perfect Flush, and the gadget itself only costs $99, so there’s a great chance this will pay for itself within a fairly short timespan. It’s also promised to work with just about every toilet on the market, so there’s a good chance you can make these savings work for you right away.

Vampires beware, because Belkin has got a stake in hand that will put your power sucking ways to a steadfast end. The Conserve Surge with Timer isn’t as intuitive as TrickleStar’s gizmo, but still makes the grade for it’s green like ways.

There are a total of 8 outlets found in this surge protector, 6 of which that are connected to an 11 hour timer. You click the wired remote to activate the timer and once the time has expired, presumably long after your day at the office has ended, the device cuts power to those outlets, saving you and your company some pretty pennies on their electricity bill.

I would’ve liked to see a customizable timer, but at the very least the built-in LED indicator on the wired remote blinks when the shut down time draws close.

The Conserve Surge with Timer from Belkin costs $34.99 and based on their case study should pay for itself in no time flat.

For those of you survivalists out there compiling your “apocalypse gear” collection, this may be the flashlight you have been dreaming about. Harnessing an appropriately titled Flashpoint Power Technology, the flashlight uses environmentally friendly ultracapacitors to help manage the the flow of energy in terms of performance and run time. So without the help of actual conventional batteries this 5.11 tactical flashlight can be fully charged in 90 seconds.

With that full charge you get 23.5 hours of continuous light. Sounds freaking amazing to me and if there is any downside to this awesome technology it would have to be the $170 price tag. Even so, check out the specs below if you’re still not sold.

Recharges in 90 seconds

No batteries – uses ultra-capacitors, no memory loss

Made of a firearm-grade high-strength polymer

Impact, abrasion, and water resistant

Contains 3 LEDs rated for more than 50,000 hours

Will charge and hold its charge 50,000 times

4 output options: Standard (90 lumens), Peak (270 lumens), Strobe and Standby

12 Volt DC Charger, Plastic Belt Ring with Nylon Strap, and a mounting bracket

Size: 11.5″ x 1.75″ diameter

This is one of those things that everybody probably should have thought of well before now, and yet, nobody ever did. You’ve seen the cardboard iPod case…now try the case made from old comics.

If you take some old comics, or even old magazines or newspapers, some masking tape, and a pair of scissors, you can cut your used newsprint into the shape of an iPod case and essentially slip it right over the iPod itself. It’s not damage resistant or shock resistant or even water resistant, but it definitely does look cool, as evidenced by the above photo.

Plus you can get some serious green cred for recycling, AND some coordinated guy cred for making your own iPod case out of whatever was lying around. That’s awesome no matter how you put it.

Solar power has yet to reach a level of adoption that it will solve our energy needs. But if Solar Roadways has their way we’ll soon all be driving, yes driving, on solar panels.

The benefits to their solar powered roadway go beyond the conventional. In addition to generating electricity, the solar road ways, which are crafted of solar cells and glass, contain LEDs that could provide drivers with information similar today’s overhead highway signs as well as melt snow and ice using built-in heating elements.

Estimates says that if we replaced the entire interstate system with Solar Panels we could resolve the US energy crisis. One mile of solar road is powerful enough to power up to 500 homes, assuming each panel is producing 7.6kw hours of power each day. Sure, each 12×12 foot panel costs $6,900, but that cost could eventually be off set by charging customers for the energy, not to mention the green implications of adding the pollution free energy source.

So is this reality? Sort of. Solar Roadways just received a $100,000 grant from the department of transportation to build a working prototype. The likelihood of converting our interstates is probably a ways off, but if they can prove that the technology is viable and requires less maintenance then today’s roads I don’t see why concept can’t become reality.

While APC’s Power-Saving Surge Protectors With Programmable LCD Timer aren’t much to look at, there energy saving features will have you seeing (and saying) green in no time flat.

Stupid puns aside (keep reading and you might get them), these two surge protectors boast a set of outlets that can be scheduled to turn on and off at any given time, with up to five scheduled settings. That means you can plug in your cell phone or MP3 player without the worry of overcharging the device or sucking down unneeded power. That’s right, a fully charged cell phone will continue to suck down power, which not only increases your carbon footprint but your electricity bill as well.

They’re available in two flavors – 4 outlet wall model (P4GC) and 5 outlet cored model (P6GC) – and includes a set of status lights to indicate ‘building wiring fault,’ ‘timer enabled’ and ‘protection working.’ According to APC and based on 3 hours of daily use, they believe that these surge protectors can save consumers $20 and $60 respectively. They’ll launch sometime in Q3 for $16.99 and $19.99 and based on the aforementioned cost savings you’ll make your money back in 12 months time.

I’m all for riding a bike over car transport and PedalPower+ now offers me a way to double down on my green equity. Much like the dynamos of the 80s and 90s that powered many a bike lights, the PedalPower+ uses the same concept but instead regulates the power to charge any connected device, such as a cell phone or MP3 player. If no device is connected the PedalPower+’s internal battery sucks up the charge for later use and a set of onboard solar panels can add a little extra charge when you’re not on the go. Skeptical about its durability? Don’t be. The manufacturer has tested it for up to 60,000 miles with speeds ranging from .5 to 60mph. And for the more hardcore rider there is hub version, which will require a bike shop for installation since the wheel will need re-spoking.

There doesn’t seem to be one set price for the PP+, but it sounds like we should seem them sooner than later in bike stores and other outdoor related shops.

It might bear a similar resemblance to the Propel, but Samsung’s Reclaim is all about Eco-friendly. So much so in fact that its box is crafted from 70 percent recycled materials and printed using a Soy based ink. Also adding to the ‘green’ factor is the phone’s outer casing, which is comprised of 40% bio-plastic material, made from corn. And those thick paper manuals are replaced with virtual ones, something most companies have been doing for a while now to cut their costs.

Feature wise were looking at a slideout QWERTY keyboard, 2 megapixel camera, Sprint Navigation, Bluetooth with A2DP, memory slot expandable to 32GB, web browser and two eco stating colors to choose from: Blue and Green.

The Samsung Reclaim will hit Sprint stores and website on August 16th and cost $50 after a 2-year contract signing and $50 mail-in-rebate. Interesting. I wonder if the mail-in-rebate can be entered online, otherwise they might be negating their green statement.

So we’ve seen a few ways to save on water when it comes to washing clothes, but none quite so efficient as the Xeros machine. Instead of using gallons of water, the Xeros machine depends on polymer beads that when combined with a small amount of H2O, enough to get the beads damp, they attract dirt away from the clothing. The beads are good for hundreds of washes and according to its inventor, Stephen Burkinshaw, the machine uses 90% less water than a traditional washing machine and 40% less energy once you account for the reduction in drying time since the clothes are just slightly damp and not wet.

Toss one of these in every US household and the carbon emission reduction is the equivalent of taking 5 million cars off the road, while water conserved is 1.2 billion gallons. You’ve still gotta use detergent, but I don’t think any conservation would make me pass up that downy fresh smell. The Xeros machines are set to go into production sometime in 2010, but there is no word on when they’ll be commercially available.

We’ve seen piezoelectric flooring before, but now POWERleap hopes to bring the product to commercial availability. In case you forgot, the concept is simple: when a person walks on the pad the energy from their foot step is captured, stored and ultimately recycled for later use. In reality, massive foot traffic and a large number of pads are needed for the system to be useful, but with places like NYC and many other metropolitan areas funneling people through gateways its not far from possible.
