My buddy can really get engorged in gaming hype.  Especially when it comes to Sam Fisher related news.  Hopefully this nugget of hype will do something for him.

What we are hearing today is that when Assassin’s Creed 2 arrives tomorrow, there will be an exclusive demo voucher packed inside for Splinter Cell Conviction.

Splinter Cell Conviction has been a long time coming and this demo voucher is a smart way to get people reinvested in a franchise that’s trying to reinvent itself.  Hit us up tomorrow if you get this voucher and play the demo.

Zune HD owners rejoice.  Crickets?  Microsoft has recently announced that a batch of new 3D games is now available at the Zune MarketPlace.  For Free.  That’s right, the following games are available now for free:  Project Gotham Racing: Ferrari Edition, Audiosurf Tilt, Vans Sk8: Pool Service, Lucky Lanes Bowling, Piano, and Checkers.

Totally cool for free right!  Hopefully this will help Microsoft move some units this holiday season, but  having not yet seen an actual Zune HD in person, I’m interested in how good the gaming will be on this thing. If you are a Zune HD owner and download these free games and let me know just how 3D they actually are!

Just in time for holiday shopping madness, Yowza!! brings some unexpected App cheer for those of us coupon users.  When out and about, Yowza!! shows you store coupons for up to 15 miles around from where you are shopping at.  Even the Bar Code is displayed for the cashier to scan, right off your phone!  How cool will you be?

Having been out since late August, the app has received about 3k reviews with an average of 2/5 stars.  Now is the time when this app will truly flex its muscles so give it a try and see if it works for you.  Free now in the App Store.

For those of you that subscribe to the NetFlix-esque video game rental service, the GameFly GameCenter app is now available for free in the App Store.  More than just access to your queue, the GameFly GameCenter has a news feed, tons of user reviews, and instantly accessible “most popular” games list.

I’d go as far as to say that that even if you don’t belong to GameFly (it’s hard to get new releases but buying used games is the cheapest around), the app is still a cool alternative to the IGN app in terms of user reviews and news.

It’s finally nice to see the Ps3 getting some exclusive and free DLC these days.  the newest of these offerings comes by the way of Brutal Legend.  The epic fantasy nod to all things metal will receive it’s first DLC next month with a multiplayer map pack entitled “Tears of the Heaxadon”.

With the DLC being released on both the Ps3 and the Xbox 360. the PS3 version will be the only one that’s free.  Available from November 5th until November 19th the content will be free at the PSN store, while the Xbox 360 version will cost 400 MS points when the DLC arrives on November 3rd.

That reminds me, I gotta put this game in my GameFly queue.

That’s right folks.  Because the included 400 cars and 100 tracks just isn’t going to be enough.  So when Forza 3 releases later this month, those who buy a new copy will receive a redeem code for 10 cars and 2 tracks as free DLC from the Xbox Live Marketplace.

Borderlands is a game I’m really interested in how it turns out.  Arriving later this month, I have a feeling it could rightly be this fall’s sleeper hit.  If you’ve read anything about this game you’ll know that it offers you a seemingly endless amount of weaponry using a technique found in MMO’s called “Procedural Weapon Generation”.  This system randomly generates unique weapons making the game absolutely different for each player.  Due to an internal dice that’s rolled, not all of these weapons will be awesome.  That’s not the case it what I’m about to write.

Announced today, if you hurry up and pre-order Borderland from GameStop you’ll get the “Mercenary Weapons Pack” which features 8 unique quality weapons to use when you get the game.  Sounds cool but I’ll wait to read the reviews before I jump on this band wagon.  I made the mistake of getting all hyped up over Far Cry 2, which also had exclusive GameStop content coincidentally, and I haven’t even played halfway through it.

I just got an email from Microsoft in regards to how they are giving away, or letting you try for free, Fable 2.  Since Sony has been “giving” some stuff away recently, it seems like Microsoft wants to jump on that bandwagon.

Having divided Fable 2 into five chapters (perhaps showing how linear the title actually is), you can download the first episode for free with each chapter thereafter costing you 800 MS points ($10).

So essentially you can have a full digital copy of Fable 2 for $40.  Is that really a deal?  I guess it’s cool that you can play 2Gb’s into the game to see if you like it, but I’m sure you could score the whole game (as it’s almost a year old now), used for cheap on Amazon, eBay, or elsewhere.

Still, a nice move by Microsoft if you had any interest in trying out Fable 2.  Click the Read link below for more details.

Get Episode 1 Of “Tales From Monkey Island” For Free (PC);

In a move that is entirely all things Sony,  some featured Blu-Ray releases will contain a free digital copy for your PSP.  The catch is that you will need a PS3 to do the transfer.

For example, Sony Films will be releasing the Blu-Ray version of Godzilla on November 3rd that will be bundled with a separate DVD-ROM that provides access to the digital copy.  From there you just jam the disc into your PS3 and download the digital version of the Godzilla.  After that all you have to do is transfer it to your PSP via USB and you are good to go.

Essentially you will have all this Sony stuff to make this a worthwhile deal.  But do you really care anyway?  If you are going out and actually buying Godzilla on Blu-Ray do you really need to watch it again on your PSP?

Again, another nice move by Sony but will it go largely unnoticed?

In an effort to quell some of the “not all that” PSPgo reviews that have been piling up, Sony is giving away a free digital copy Gran Turismo to new buyers of the handheld system.

Starting on October 1st at 14.00hrs (GMT) to October 10th 23.59hrs (GMT), all you have to do is download the Gran Turismo theme through the PlayStation Store.  Shortly after download you will receive an email giving you the promotional redeem code for Gran Turismo.

Nice move by Sony, but will it be enough?

To help ease the potentially painful transition for those of you upgrading from the UMD PSP to the PSP Go, Sony is willing to throw you 3 free games for the trouble.  So far this deal is only going to be available in Europe and goes through October 1st to March 31st.

PSP Go upgraders will have their choice to pick 3 out of 17 games that they will be able to download from Sony’s PSN.  The games so far will be all Sony 1st-party titles that include: Killzone: Liberation, SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3, WipEout Pure, Echochrome, LocoRoco, and Patapon.  I’m sure the full list will be disclosed soon.

According to Sony, you will have to log on to PSN with your old PSP in order to get the deal.  Is this a good enough effort by Sony to make you want to upgrade to a PSP Go?  Also, why the hell can’t the US get this offer??

For the PS3 only!  Exclusive DLC is just fanning the fanboy flame now isn’t it?  Apparently this 2nd challenge map entitled “Prey in the Darkness” is only coming to the PS3 for tomorrow September 24th.  Sources report that it is available now in the UK.

Free DLC is totally the way to go but making it system exclusive only provides more ammo for the “FAIL”crowd and console loyalists.  I still have not played this game!

Confirmed through the PS3’s in-game news ticker, new DLC for Batman AA will arrive on September 17th and it will be for free.  Word is that the DLC will be some additional challenge rooms or perhaps some more of the playable Joker character.

Can anyone verify if you have seen this game screen on either the Xbox 360 or the PC?

I have yet to play more than the demo of this game but it is in the top of my GameFly queue.

With all the rumblings of the PSP 4000 going with download only software, OnLive wants you to ditch your home console for thier “low cost” micro console where there are no physical games and everything is downloadable.  Here’s a quote:

Of course, the quality of the video feed relies on your connection.

While my ComScam connection is fairly fast, it bottlenecks frequently and I don’t think I would want to rely on my wavering connection to play games at only 720p.  Bloop.  Where’s the pic of the controller?  Consider me not sold.

I think it was like a year ago when AT&T said they’d provide free WiFi at all Hotspot locations for iPhone owners.  Then they reneged on the offer and pissed off a lot of people, including me.  Looks like they’re finally making good on the offer and today announced free WiFi to iPhone users at “1000s of locations”.

To access the Free WiFi you’ll need to do the following:

1. Turn on your iPhone’s WiFi
2. Select “attwifi”
3. Enter your 10-digit phone number
4. You’ll then receive a free text message with a link
5. Click that link and whammo, you’ve got free WiFi on your iPhone for a 24-hour period

First thing I’m gonna try to do is access the link from a laptop and see if ‘faking’ the browser client is necessary.  Can’t hurt to try, right?
