Got any plans to enter a burning building? Yes, we’re talking to you Mr. Fireman or the guy (or gal) that has a tendency to crash race cars filled to the brim with rocket fuel.

This suit can protect its users for up to 12 seconds in excess of 1,800 degrees F. That isn’t to say you won’t suffer second degree burns, but that’s a small price to pay seeing at today’s fire retardant suits would result in a firey death in as little as five seconds.

The suit is designed by Lamination Technologies of Pennsylvania. It uses artificial fibers spun into a fire-proof yarn that can be exposed to flames and no matter what won’t light on fire. Course, as we already pointed out, the temperature on the inside of the suit will rise to a deathly high level and burn it’s victim into a crisp, provided the exposure is long enough.

Lamination Technologies is currently working on a race car version of the suit to be worn by the driver of the 1,000 MPH Bloodhound rocket car.

I’ve had a first hand experience with a dryer fire – my dog Bucky can attest to this since he still shakes when he hears a smoke detector. Beyond the crazy statistics of over 40 dryers catching fire a day, lint is usually the cause. To help combat this is the LintAlert device.

Consisting of two parts, the LinkAlert lets you know when lint has become backed up and when the vent system of the dryer has become blocked. The base unit plugs into the wall and acts as the display for anything that could be going wrong with your dryer. Attached is a six-foot flexible 1/8″ tube that is fitted to the dryer’s transition hose and uses a pressure differential sensor to make sure airflow is normal and safe.

If anything is not up to normal regulations, LintAlert’s LED’s will denote what’s going on and the audible alarm will sound. For $45, this is an absolute no brainer!

Combining the most primitive elements discovered at the dawn of mankind, this rolling fireplace from Conmoto wants to go off-roading down your stairs with a passion. From the look of the picture it seems pretty fake but it actually runs off of ethanol and is a real heat source believe it or not.

Imagining some awesome YouTube videos involving bowling and day care centers this fireplace isn’t designed to roll at all. What are we supposed think? Anyway, cool concept and I’d love to mess with one.

Good lord. I am constantly vexed by all these seemingly worthless products making it to the assembly line. Last week we saw the Undead Japanese Warrior controller for the PS3, and this week we have the Fire Breathing Dragon controller for the Xbox 360.

While it looks cool at first glance, shortly upon second glance the question arises about the ergonomics of this controller. Is it comfortable? Even with the removable tail I really don’t think so.

If you care, this Dragon Controller is priced around $29 and is compatible with Windows Vista, XP, 2000, ME and 98 as well as supporting vibration functions.

It broke my heart when I saw all the abandoned animals left behind after the Katrina disaster. I shudder to think how I would feel faced with a decision like that. So while humans have a plethora of survival gear out there this is the first I’m seeing for cats and dogs.

Approved by the Japanese Firefighting Association this flame retardant protective jacket is made from polyester (base cloth), polyurethane (outer shell), fireproof acrylic (lining) and looks like a moon boot. The jacket comes in a variety of sizes and features a briefcase carrying handle seen on pet life jackets.

Packed inside the the jacket are a bunch of essential first aid items for pets and humans including: 50mL sealed water packs for drinking or disinfecting, nutrition bars, bandages, aromatic oil (for calming panic), first-aid gloves, mini-radio, food bowl, muzzle, hermetically sealed odor control bag (for any items distressing the pet), protective rain hood and rubber booties, freezer gel paks (to control heat), bell, waterproof ID capsule with blank paper and an emergency whistle.

What no flare gun?

At a steep price of $480 I’m positive that someone will buy this.
