The third entry in the popular Uncharted Series exclusive to the PS3 is almost here! While we’re still waiting for word on the next installment of COD, and still fearing the release of the live action movie, word emerged today that the next DLC for Black Ops, called “Escalation”, will arrive in 3 weeks time; May 3rd to be more exact.  Included will be five new maps (Hotel, Convoy, Zoo, Stockpile, and a yet to be named Zombies map) for what will presumably be a cost of $15 – that’s what previous COD DLCs have cost.  Expect the PS3 and the PC to receive the new content a week or two later.

Already tired of the just released COD: Black Ops multiplayer maps?  Splendid news my FPS cohorts.  The first DLC for Black Ops, aptly titled “First Strike”, releases Feb 1st on Xbox 360 for 1200 Microsoft points – it will release shortly after on the PS3.

The DLC contains 5 new maps, featuring 4 multiplayer maps and a new Zombie level. It include the “Berlin Wall”, allowing combat on both sides of the imposing wall; “Discovery”, a desolate, frozen German outpost in the Arctic; “Kowloon”, battle in the rain along the rooftops of a towering Chinese sprawl; “Stadium”, an intense locale with a pro hockey arena backdrop; and “Ascension”, where you fight zombies in a Soviet launch facility.

Those enjoying the “Deniable Ops” mode within Splinter Cell Conviction will be excited to learn about the “Insurgency Pack” DLC arriving on Xbox 360 on May 27th.  The content will include 4 new maps used in the mode and will cost $10.  Given the fact that each Deniable Map has up to 5 zones each, this could actually be worth the asking price.

The new maps include:  Docks in San Francisco, a cemetery in New Orleans, a prison in Portland, and a hidden research complex in Salt Lake City.  No word on PS3 release and Ubisoft had previously boasted weekly free DLC for SCC, but we’ve yet to really experience the full brunt of the promotion.

Enjoy the new maps come May 27th, and there will also an added 250 achievement points thrown in for good measure.

Word hit yesterday that Activision would deliver the second map pack, Resurgence, for MW2 on June 3rd.  We now know that it will cost $15 (1200 Xbox Live points) and contrary to Fourzerotwo, contain two maps (Vacant and Strike) from the first Modern Warfare.  The three new maps are called Trailer Park, Carnival and Fuel.

Activision has announced that the second DLC for Modern Warfare 2, the Resurgence Map Pack, will hit the Xbox 360 June 3rd.  It will include 5 multiplayer maps, though Activision failed to disclose if it will include all new boards (fourzerotwo says they’re all new) or mimic the first map pack which included two boards from the first MW.  Also not mentioned was a release date for the PS3 or PC, but in all likelihood those will hit a month later.

So will you buy the second map pack (price TBD)?  After all, this one arrives just over two months after the Stimulus Package DLC was released.  Additionally, the next Call Of Duty title, Black Ops, is due later this year (11/9) and is already up for preorder at Amazon.

EA has just announced Onslaught Mode for Battlefield:  Bad Company 2, and it’s the first time the Battlefield series is getting some co-op action.  The mode will enable up to four players to tackle objectives while facing an Onslaught of AI enemies try and stop them.

We’ve seen this type of co-op style done in MW2 (only 2 player) and in other games but fans will be happy to know that the maps used in the modes (Valparaiso, Atacama Desert, Isla Inocentes, and Nelson Bay) will feature redesigned lighting as well as different vehicle set-ups and the like.

It would also be safe to say that this new mode will add some pins and insignias to the mix allowing you to beef up your collection.  What we’re hearing now is that this might be the first “non-VIP” DLC, meaning that everyone will have to pay for it.  Also of note is that the mode will only be available for the PS3 and Xbox 360 and not the PC.

I just can’t seem to get enough Bad Company 2 these days.  Longing for some new maps, Map Pack 3 has now made its way to the in-game store.  What would be more appropriately named “Mode Pack 3″, the update will add Squad Rush Mode to the Laguna Alta Map, and Squad Deathmatch to the Nelson Bay Map.

While I know these are free updates for VIP’s (not free for buyers of the used game), will we ever see some brand new maps?  Maybe at least a couple maps for BC1??

Anybody have any thoughts on this type of DLC?

Making up for having to wait forever for Splinter Cell Conviction, Ubisoft throws its loyal patrons a bone with the announcement of… free weekly DLC!  You heard that right, the DLC will appear in the form of weapons, skins (love that word, thanks Boyz in da Hood), Deniable Ops Maps, each week, for absolutely no cost.

Sounds awesome right?  With a short single player campaign, Ubisoft is backing the rest of the game up with a great co-op campaign, and multiplayer mode.  The DLC starts pouring in on the 15th, but I’m not sure if it is system exclusive.  Me and my housemate would love to buy a couple copies for around $80 if anybody knows about some coupons!

With all the heat coming off the ridiculously over priced Stimulus Package Map Pack for Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2, it was apparently the perfect time for DICE to rise above their underdog status with a statement that should make all gamers happy.

DICE Senior Producer Patrick Bach said the following:

“We don’t ever want to charge for our maps and insisted to EA that this attitude was crucial when it came to keeping our community happy and playing together”

Sounds great to me.  I’m loving me some Rad Compnay 2 these days and might even go out and buy some Dr.Pepper and see if I can’t get some “free” DLC that way.  Also of other related news, IW is having a double EXP session in MW 2 around now, and a Squad Rush Mode has just been released for BC2.

Rolling Stone has announced that sometime during the week of March 30th the whole Jimi Hendrix Experience Album will be available as RockBand DLC.  No word on how much it will exactly cost, but it will be a bigger compilation than most Rockband DLC’s to date.

In addition, a previously unreleased song “Valleys of Neptune” from the forthcoming CD of the same name will also be available separately as DLC.  The content supposedly recreates the Jimi Hendrix Experience like no other and makes you feel like the man himself, minus the acid of course.

This content will possible mark the first of several iterations of Hendrix content which could eventually lead to a stand alone game sometime in the near future.

That’s right MW2 devotees.  The first map pack for Modern Warfare 2 will be coming to the Xbox 360 first thing on March 30th.  Not much information was given in regards to specifics and details but rumors are citing 5 maps of the new and old variety.  Old maps?  Like from MW1?  That doesn’t sound cool.  Given the price point ($10) on MW1′s 3 map package from 07′, I guess it seems fair.

While no price point has been set, the aforementioned surmise could be totally defeated once one does arrive, so we’ll just have to wait and see.  How about some new weapons and perks?

Activision laid mention to the the fact that the map pack will also make it to the PS3 and PC but failed to arrive on a date.  Consider your package stimulated?

Having yet to play Bioshock it’s nice to see that DLC is being supported.  Sinclair Solutions Pack is due out on March 11th for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.  For 400 Microsoft Points or $4.99 on PS3, you’ll get a level increase to 50, 20 new trials, 5 new masks, and two new playable characters.  Sounds like a decent deal.

MDub, as in Modern Warfare, fans are ravenous when it comes to their map packs.  Well, they can now, or more like soon, feed their insatiable thirst for more mutliplayer combat.  Due sometime this Spring (I’m hearing as soon as April) we can expect the first map pack, which will be called “Stimulus Package” (let’s hope this means cheap).

The DLC will include five new maps – 2 pulled from COD4 and 3 news ones.  Activision has yet to deny or confirm this ‘leak’, but since the video depicting the supposedly new multiplayer boards has already been pulled from Youtube…well, you get the picture.

Arriving in a few days, the final of two promised DLC’s for Assassin’s Creed 2 will be available on Xbox Live and PSN marketplaces.  The final installment will present 10 more Ezio memories for you to futz around with.  Having yet to really play either Assassin’s Creed, I can’t speak to the chronological impact of this DLC, though I must say it looks interesting.

Will this be better than the critically lackluster Battle of Forli content?

To help it not get lost in the MW2 shuffle, GearBox Studios is set to release a new batch of DLC for their awesome Borderlands game on November 24th for the Xbox 360 and PS3.  The content will cost $10 and will give around 6-10 hours of gameplay.

Promising more narrative this time around, the content centers around zombies and swamps, giving the whole look of the game a different approach.  Entitled the “The Zombie Island Of Dr. Ned”, it looks just as stylized and fun as the regular game and let’s hope this is just the first of many quality DLC’s for Borderlands.  No word yet on the PC release date.  Watch the video.

It’s finally nice to see the Ps3 getting some exclusive and free DLC these days.  the newest of these offerings comes by the way of Brutal Legend.  The epic fantasy nod to all things metal will receive it’s first DLC next month with a multiplayer map pack entitled “Tears of the Heaxadon”.

With the DLC being released on both the Ps3 and the Xbox 360. the PS3 version will be the only one that’s free.  Available from November 5th until November 19th the content will be free at the PSN store, while the Xbox 360 version will cost 400 MS points when the DLC arrives on November 3rd.

That reminds me, I gotta put this game in my GameFly queue.

I’ll say it right now that I have not been following the development of Mass Effect 2. I was thoroughly disappointed in the first installment and couldn’t even play through it.  Despite my disdain for this game this is an important nugget of gaming news.

EA will be releasing Mass Effect 2 to the salivating masses on January 26th in the US with Europe to follow on the 29th.  Alongside this news is the announcement of some free bonus content if you pre-order ME2 in the form of a downloadable code once you bring the game home on launch day.

The content is split up between some select retailers.  Most will receive codes for an “Inferno Armor” (pictured above), while pre-order content masters GameStop will get codes for the “Terminus Armor” (pictured below) as well as the M-490 Blackstorm Heavy Weapon.  No word as to if this content will be accessible at any point to gamers who opt to not pre-order ME2.

That’s right folks.  Because the included 400 cars and 100 tracks just isn’t going to be enough.  So when Forza 3 releases later this month, those who buy a new copy will receive a redeem code for 10 cars and 2 tracks as free DLC from the Xbox Live Marketplace.
