Cats and shelves go hand-in-hand.  Or should we say paw-in-paw.  Because of their skittish nature cats prefer to be perched as high as possible.  Since homes generally lack trees, the Cat Library should make for a nice resolve.

The shelving system is modular so you can move the shelves around to keep your pesty feline entertained and it even looks like there is a built-in seat.

Believe it or not, Cats are of the giving type.  Wake up on any given weekend and you’ll be sure to find a dead mouse or some other small critter waiting for you in the kitchen.  Gross, I know. 

Flo the cat was a repeat offender so the folks at Quantum Picture rewired a commercially available magnetic cat door (Cat Mate) with a camera that reads the cats profile before entry.  The pics are pretty self explanatory, but if the computer’s camera and image recognition software sees an image that differs from the baseline pic (no critter in mouth) the door won’t unlock and the cat – Flo in this case – is restricted from entry.

Crazy cat ladies have a six sense as to the location of their beasts at all times.  But for you newbies who just adopted their first feline you’ll probably experience a heart palpitation or two when you can’t find your new furry friend.  The cat Loc8tor included a small homing tag that attaches to the cat collar, while the included handset emits an audible tone and increases the number of lit LED lights as your draw closer to their hiding spot.  The device can detect through walls, doors and other solid items.  There are two tags included and you can buy one right now for $100.

If you’re of the cat obsessed ilk than you’ll surely dig this device: the Internet-enabled Cat Feeder.  The name pretty much says it all, but what kind of post would that be if I didn’t provide some additional details.

Created by inventor Mathew Newton, this device has a web interface that let’s him view a live video feed of the cat bowl and also control how much kibble to dispense to his furry feline.  Alternatively, he can also set the system to automatically dispense food based on a time.

If you’ve got cats, then you know what the worst thing about having them is.  Namely, it’s their litterboxes.  Cats are pooping in your house, and you’re left to clean it up.

Did we lose a war?

Yes, I know, once again, Simpsons did it first.  But you can now correct the much bigger problem of cat waste in your house with the LitterWorks automatic litter box.

If you follow the read link, you’ll be taken to the LitterWorks site, which will explain in spectacular detail just how this thing works.  A simple version goes like this: ten minutes after your cat leaves the surprise of the day in the litter box, the LitterWorks springs into action and rakes up the cat mess, dropping said rakings into an expandable plastic bag in a separate compartment.

This is a clever idea, and from the sounds of things, even manages to keep the smell to a minimum too.  Anything that does that has to be a sweet gadget in anyone’s book.
