Dell Home has the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for Xbox 360 at a great deal. Not since February have we seen this game for this price.
The Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 2 on Xbox 360® from ACTIVISION® continues the gripping and heart-racing saga with an unprecedented level of action. In this first person shooter game, players face off against a new threat dedicated to bringing the world to the brink of collapse through an unfolding story full of twists and turns.
Word has reached the gaming blogs today about the future of the Call of Duty series and the result is pretty much perpetual. Activision has stated that a new game studio going by the name Sledgehammer Games will be taking up the reigns of a yet to be titled Call Of Duty title. This apparently doesn’t mean that Treyarch and Infinity Ward are being cut out of the mix either.
Ambiguous statements have been made in regards to Treyarch’s COD 7 this fall and that the 2011 COD will be made by a yet to be specified developer. Also, all over the web today is grumblings over the terminations of to lead IW employees due to insubordination. Eh.
I’m thinking it’s about time for the COD franchise to take an open world approach in the vein of Far Cry 2 will obviously more fleshed out narrative and direction. Anybody else agree?
We’ve yet to see a true WW2 Open World FPS and it’s about time COD loses its rails.
A recent Hollywood casting call has revealed information regarding the next installment of the Activision Call of Duty series. Slated for a November 2010 release, COD7 will finally make the move to the Vietnam conflict.
The ad mentions names of the new characters seeking voice-overs and makes reference to a Vietnam setting. Activison has confirmed the game but is already making defeatist claims saying that it’s not going to be as lucrative as the mega-hit Modern Warfare 2. Whatever. It’ll be the only COD game coming out in 2010 so I’m sure they’ll do just fine.
We’ve seen a couple Vietnam games in the past, but I can’t even remember their names. Are we ready for a Call of Duty Vietnam War game?
Modern Warfare 2 is a first-person tactical shooter and the sixth entry in the popular Call of Duty series. True to its name and following the lead of its predecessor, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, it places players in modern combat settings, as opposed to the WWII environments of the earlier Call of Duty games. This modern approach brings with it new weapons, action and options. Coupled with a variety of gameplay modes including single player, multiplayer and the co-op Special Ops Mode, it is destined to be one of the most popular games of 2009 and a worthy addition to the Call of Duty series. …Continue reading: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Xbox or PS3) – $45 Shipped

COD 6 (Modern Warfare 2) might be the world’s most popular game, but that doesn’t mean COD 4 Modern Warfare 1 doesn’t have a fighting chance. Okay, who am I kidding. MW2 is the bomb, but for Star Wars fans the first iteratoin of Modern Warfare will once again have a place in their heart thanks to a new skin that turns the 2 year old game into “Galatic Warfare”, a first person shooter with Star Wars characters, locations and weapons. It’s a non profit, so hopefully the game will be free, but probably only on the PC since it’s a ’skin’. Expect it sometime before this year’s Xmas.

When ‘COD: World At War‘ hit the scene last year everyone and their little brother was ultra psyched for the Zombie board. After all, who doesn’t like slaying zombies, let alone Nazi Zombies. Now their first board, ‘Nacht der Untoten’ (German for ‘night of the dead’) has been transposed to the iPhone where you can engage in up to 4 player coop game play over WiFi (2 if Bluetooth).
At $9.99 it’s a bit steep, especially when you consider it’s just one board and the same board found on the console version. They’ve also got plans to roll out additional Nazi levels which will no doubt cost you.
Remember that special edition Modern Warfare 2 Xbox 360 console we wrote about back in September? It’s now available for preorder from Amazon for $399.99. Included is a massive 250GB hard drive, two black Xbox 360 wireless controllers, wired headset, the Modern Warfare 2 game and an Xbox 360 with an exclusive Modern Warfare 2 design. For this kind of cash I’d at least expect an HDMI cable to be included.
Aren’t we excited! Video game to movie translations can be an iffy thing at best, but it appears as though Activision is looking to take it’s hugely successful franchise to the silver screen. Do we think it will be comparable to other video game movies?
News of this had recently been contrived from Infinity Ward community manager Robert Bowling’s Twitter feed stating:
First round of meetings in Paris wrapped. Grabbing lunch with Xavier Gens, director of the Hitman film while in town. Talking game films.
Take what you will from that, nothing has been officialized yet but is has the blogs surmising for sure. How will they translate multi-player into the movie I wonder?
It looks like Activision has plans to bring the Call Of Duty series to the Nintendo DS. Called ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Mobilised’, it will debut on the same day as the console version, 11.10.09 and will be what sounds like a comparable, albeit portable version of the ultra popular FPS. But unlike Modern Warfare 2, multiplayer will be limited to 6 people but will include a ’survival mode’, which requires players to fight off hordes of oncoming enemy forces. Unfortunately, at the time of this posting no screen shots or a trailer were available.
