1. Best Buy

It seems that everybody is trying to score that Sharp 42-inch LCD TV at Best Buy that’s going for under $200 this Black Friday and are already camping out. But Best buy has more amazing deals like a digital photo frame that normally costs $60 for only $24.99, Sony’s Cyber-Shot DSCW570 that’s normally $159.99 for only $99, a Gateway Notebook for $149 that’s usually $300 and for those looking for a bigger TV, a 60-inch LCD HD TV from Sharp for only $799.99 that is normally $1,099.99.

Samsung’s Nexus S 4G will be arriving on the Sprint network as of April 6th for $199.99 after a 2-year contract, at least according to Best Buy’s website.  Expect to pay $699.99 for just the handset; without contract.

However, as of this posting the phone is no longer available for preorder and the ship date has been removed.  That isn’t to say the phone won’t ship on April 6th.  Best Buy probably just jumped the gun and posted the information ahead of the scheduled date.

In terms of features you can expect it to ship with Android 2.3, a 4-inch super AMOLED screen, dual 5 megapixel cameras that can capture 720p video, GPS and much more.

Well, an official announcement has put an end to the “rumor” part of Best Buy’s iPhone 4 availability. They’ll be stocking Apple’s latest smartphone come June 24th, with preorders starting tomorrow, day and date with Apple. Oh, and they’ll have a leg up on Wal-Mart, whose selling the device but not letting people pre-order it. Best Buy deals a low blow to mobile stores as well, saying that “consumers who purchase the iPhone 4 at Best Buy can avoid dealing with mail-in rebates and get help from a highly-trained staff of specialists at Best Buy Mobile.” Cause those others stores totally stink! We been pretty remiss when it comes to covering Nokia 3G Netbook, but some news hit today that we couldn’t possibly pass up.  When it goes up for preorder at Best Buy on October 22nd the 3G will retail for $299.  But before you get too excited, keep in mind that you’ll need to sign up for a 2-year mobile broadband plan from AT&T at $60 a month.  Alternatively, you can score the 3G sans broadband plan for $599, which if you run the math is a hell of alot better deal, especially when you consider how ubiquitous WiFi is these days.

For those of you who live and die with your iPhone, now there’s a way for you to actually start your car with your smart phone of choice.  Viper has just announced their new iPhone app and vehicle module appropriately titled the Viper Smart Start.  From your iPhone you can start your car, turn on the heat, unlock doors and the trunk, and manage the alarm.  The app itself is not limited by any certain distance parameters as long as it receives a signal.  Sounds crazy right?

So while the App itself is free, the device that needs to be installed into your car is not.  Costing somewhere between $300-$500 depending on the make and model of your car, there’s also a annual fee of $30.  Available now at BestBuy.

So there’s been an announcement that Best Buy means to sell the iRex book reader to compete with Amazon’s Kindle, among numerous others.  It’ll cost a whopping four hundred bucks, but come with an eight inch touchscreen (8.1, actually), connect to Verizon Wireless networks, but while Verizon itself is open to connecting other e-readers through its networks, it’s not willing to sell the iRex in its own stores, at least for the time being.

This is probably the best move Verizon can make, even if it isn’t exactly good news for Best Buy.  However, even Best Buy can get away with a little piggyback advertising with “Verizon’s network”, and of course, the first mover advantage will be a big help for the iRex.

Keep your eyes front, folks–this could be a real donnybrook, with plenty of new players moving for the Kindle market.

While we wait for Sony to firm up the details on the NOW confirmed Slim PS3, let’s take a look at their latest audio offering.  Announced today in partnership with Best Buy, the ALTUS product line includes a variety of speakers, Blu-ray players and iPod/iPhone compatible docks.  Without getting too deep into the details we’ve got the following:

1. ALT-SA31iR: A multiroom iPod/iPhone docking system that includes 2 wireless speakers, FM/AM radio, remote and an LCD display.  Additional wireless speakers can be added. $700
2. AIR-SW10Ti: An iPod dock with two built-in speakers and a wireless subwoofer.  It too includes an FM/AM radio and can transmit audio to compatible wireless speakers.  $400
3. ALT-SA32PC:  It’s essentially a USB transmitter that sends your computer’s music to included wireless speakers. $500
4. ALT-A33PC: The same as the product above, but this one includes a “a universal receiver that can connect to a variety of audio products” and doesn’t include any speakers. $200
5. ALT-SA34R Socket Speaker Package:  These too are wireless speakers (S-Air Sony calls it) that plug into your home’s wall outlet and include the S-AIR remote control.  $350
6. BDV-E500W 5.1 Channel Blu-ray Disc Home Theater System: As the system suggests it includes a Blu-ray player with BD-Live and wireless speakers for the back and the front of the room.  It does all the audio decoding  you’d expect and can be expanded to work in up to 10 rooms assuming you buy the necessary speakers.  Sorry, no word on power output.  $800

Expand your iPod from Room to Room

This multi-room package also features an AM/FM tuner and S-AIR remote control with an LCD display. Wireless PC Audio

The new ALT-SA32PC multi-room audio package features three components: an S-AIR transmitter that connects to your PC (via USB input) and two high-output wireless speakers.  The USB transmitter streams audio wirelessly from the connected PC to the two included speakers for a simple multi-room solution.

The ALT-A33PC package has an identical USB S-AIR transmitter, but includes a universal receiver that can connect to a variety of audio products with its RCA outputs. This enables users to stream music wirelessly from their computer to most existing music systems.

This ALTUS product is compatible with all S-AIR enabled transmitters and features two small, unobtrusive S-AIR wireless speakers that plug directly into any power outlet in the home. The speaker system also includes an S-AIR remote control highlighted by an LCD display for viewing music metadata.

Blu-ray Disc Power

Also included as part of the new ALTUS lineup is Sony’s BDV-E500W 5.1 Channel Blu-ray Disc™ Home Theater System, announced earlier this spring.

The BDV-E500W Blu-ray Disc home theater system features both wireless rear speakers and wireless multi-room audio capability.  With the addition of compatible ALTUS or S-AIR devices (sold separately), audio from the BDV-E500W system can be expanded in up to 10 additional rooms throughout the home.

This Blu-ray Disc system is also BD-Live capable via a rear Ethernet connection. BD-Live allows users to access content including additional scenes, short subjects, trailers, interactive games and more. It also enables easy firmware updates to assist in keeping the player up-to-date with the latest Blu-ray Disc media and features.

How the Samsung Mondi Wimax enabled MID will be a success is anyone’s guess, but Samsung, via Lets Talk is now selling the device for a cool $450.  To refresh your memory, the Mondi is Samsung’s foray into the Wimax world and offers not only blazing fast connectivity speeds, but a 4.3-inch touchscreen, 4GB of storage, GPS, 3 megapixel camera, HDMI output, Bluetooth, DivX playback, Bluetooth, WiFi and a Windows Mobile 6.1 OS.   Unfortunately, Wimax is currently only available in select markets (Baltimore, Portland, Ore., Atlanta and Las Vegas) throughout the US.  If you prefer a hands on before purchase, the device is also set to go on sale August 1st at Best Buy and Clearwire stores in the aforementioned locals.

T-Mobile may have not officially launched the Samsung Memoir (SGH-T929), but that hasn’t stopped Best Buy from slapping up a product page and naming a price.  The 8 megapixel camera phone can be yours, contract free (I think) for $579.99.  The product page currently lists the phone as backordered with an expected ship date of 1 to 2 weeks.   Based on other Best Buy contract free phones before official release date I’d gander a guess and say a contract Memoir will run you about 65% less, which is about $200.

According to a ‘source close to Sprint or Best Buy’, Best Buy Mobile has obtained a 60 day exclusive right to sell Palm’s latest phone, the Pre.  Nothing is official, but at this point does anyone really care?  I’m still cringing from Palm’s early and rapid exodus from CES!

They’re the first independent retailer to carry the iPhone and for Apple’s sake hopefully they’ll reach an untapped socioeconomic demo.
