According to a leaked B&H Photo product page, Archos is set to refresh their Archos 5 Internet Tablet with not only a new, svelter form factor but a brand new OS.

The 5-inch touchscreen device’s OS will now be Android.  It will be avaialble in a variety of capacities and include an optional $130 DVR system.  While the prices have now been taken down and replaced with “tba”, Archosfans.com was diligent enough to snag a screen capture.  The 16GB and 32GB flash based models will cost $293.95 and $369.95 respectively, while the hard drive based models, available in a 160GB and 500GB capacity will set you back $319.95 and $419.95 respectively.

Word is that the updated Archos 5 will hit the street on 9/15, but I can neither deny or confirm that date.

Archos announced a slew of new products yesterday, and one of them, which we failed to cover, was the Archos 9 Internet tablet.  It measures just 16mm thin and includes an 80-120GB HDD, Intel ATOM Z515 processor, WiFi, 8.9-inch 1024×600 touchscreen, 2 antennas to receive DVBT TV, webcam, Bluetooth and a 3 hour rechargeable battery.  Unfortunately, it runs Windows 7 which will probably prove to be taxing on a device of this size – I’d want a custom UI to do the basics.  We’re hearing that it will launch for about €500 ($700 US), but nothing is set in stone at this point.  Check the video after the ‘leap’. …Continue reading: Archos 9 8.9-inch Touchscreen Mini PC Unveiled (video)

Archos kicked out a new player today, the Archos 3.  It features a 3-inch tactile touchscreen that the company claims ‘covers the whole surface of the device’ (at glance it appears to cover 85%), a virtual wheel selector, 8GB of storage, 14 hours of music playback, voice recorder, stop watch and calendar.  Pricing and availability have yet to be announced.
