By now we’ve seen an almost endless array of alarm clocks that take a new fangled approach on the tried and tested classic ringing bell version.  My favorite still has to be the Blowfly that went from concept to actual product thanks to gadget blogs like this.

Much like the Earthquake Alarm Clock from two years ago, the Shake N Wake Alarm clock vibrates to awaken you from your slumber at a preset time.  It also includes an audible alarm and a wrist strip.

Suprisingly it only costs £14.99 ($25 US).

What’s portable, cute and loves to listen to your every command?  If you said Moshi’s Voice Control Travel Alarm Clock, then you’re spot on.

I have yet to try out any of Moshi’s voice activated alarm clocks, but according to their press release with the push of button you can activate up to 9 settings simply by speaking a command(no programming required), which includes setting the time, alarm, snooze, and asking for the temperature.

The palm sized Moshi Travel Alarm Clock is available in pink, blue, white, and black at their website and will be available at select Bed Bath & Beyond stores come mid to late November. Price: $25.

Why in the shape of a light bulb I don’t know, but from the design studios of Quirky I bring you the Watt Time alarm clock.  And yes, that is a horribly bad play on words, something I greatly appreciate in light (get it?) of the all too common bedside alarm clock.  The light bulb shaped alarm clock is crafted of high-gloss, hard plastic, which not only allows the the digital time display to shine through, but prevents you from smashing it to flesh tearing glass shards when you hammer down on the would be socket to activate the snooze – although that would be a killer wake up call.   And much like the Philips alarm clock we recently saw, you can wake to a gradually increasing glow of light.

You can pre-order the Watt Time alarm clock for $24.99 and hope it reaches it pre-sale goal, otherwise it will never see the light of day (yes, another one).

Growing up I had a clock that featured an orb of light (i.e. lamp) that as my alarm time approached it would get gradually brighter.  The theory was that your brain would sense the change in light and the whole waking up process would be more natural and less painful.  Philips HF3490 Wake-up Light alarm clock does the exact same thing, but features a detachable iPod dock and an optional FM radio with 4 nature sounds.  Unlike my childhood version, though, this one can also gradually dim to help you drift off to sleep.

There is no limit to these cryptic alarm clocks.  The Finger Dance Alarm Clock will have you doing a Simon Says gig as soon as the alarm bells begin to blare.  Just in case you were born post Simon Says’ peak of popularity, it means you’ll have to push the buttons in the same sequence they light up.  Since I’m a repeat snoozer – I use my iPhone which takes one button mash – I should probably sign myself up for this.  They’re currently out of stock but you can eventually grab one for £9.99 ($16 US).

Now that’s not to say modifications won’t be made.  This is that gift that fanboys will literally gush over.  Featuring an AM/FM radio, an Aux input for devices, and 3 different alarm noises, this will surely set your dreams off in a dark lord sort of way.  On sale now for $30, I can see “Die-Hards” buying a bunch of these just to have in every room and in the car, etc.  Made by Sakar International this wouldn’t even have to be a clock if it was a fleshlight.

When it comes to announcing new products lately, iHome has been pretty mum.  Set for release in May for $60, the iH24S is a travel alarm clock that features an iPod dock and a ‘flip back’ that doubles as a sheath for the face of the device and a stand when flipped open.  Based on pics alone, though, the iH24S looks a tad large for a portable alarm clock.
