Mi-Fi iPhone App Monitors Your MiFi’s Battery, Connections And More

October 23rd, 2009 4:25 PM | by Christen da Costa

MiFi iPhone App

For all you Verizon and Sprint MiFi users with an iPhone or iPod Touch, listen up.  There’s an app called Mi-Fi that lets you monitor your Mifi’s bandwidth, connected IPs, connection time and battery level.  I’m not sure how it jacks into this info, but I’m assuming it’s done over WiFi and doesn’t require any special tinkering.  I especially like that someone built an app for a product that isn’t available from AT&T, but rather their two competitors.

Nokia Booklet 3G Netbook Price And Preorder Date Announced

October 13th, 2009 1:55 PM | by Christen da Costa

nokia-booklet-3g

We been pretty remiss when it comes to covering Nokia 3G Netbook, but some news hit today that we couldn’t possibly pass up.  When it goes up for preorder at Best Buy on October 22nd the 3G will retail for $299.  But before you get too excited, keep in mind that you’ll need to sign up for a 2-year mobile broadband plan from AT&T at $60 a month.  Alternatively, you can score the 3G sans broadband plan for $599, which if you run the math is a hell of alot better deal, especially when you consider how ubiquitous WiFi is these days.

itwinge

For those of you out there harping on the iPhone for it’s lack of a physical keyboard, I think your day might of just arrived.  Announced today,  iTwinge will release a QWERTY keyboard adapter for the iPhone 3G(S) that will give you that down home assurance that the keys are actually there.  Shipping on November 19th, the iTwinge keyboard adapter will cost $30.

It would be cool if it had a keychain adapter or lanyard attachment so you could keep it close because you obviously don’t need this all the time.

Novothink Announces The First Ever Apple-Certified Solar iPhone Battery Pack, The Surge

September 4th, 2009 3:54 PM | by Christen da Costa

iphone-surge-solar-battery-pack

Another day another battery pack for the iPhone.  But wait, there’s more.  Much like the battery pack we saw from MotionTouch in July, Novothink is set to release their own version of the solar powered battery pack for the iPhone and iPod touch called the Surge.  And their claim to fame is that this is the first ever Apple-certified one.

But before you get too excited keep in mind it will take about 20 hours to fully charge its internal battery from the solar rays, so think of it as supplementary and not a replacement for standard wall charging.

On the back of the device, in addition to the solar panels are 4 LED lights to indicate the Surge’s level of charge and although they claim there is a 30-pin connector I can’t seem to find one in the pictures, though there is a mini USB port.  Those of you with the the EDGE iteration of the iPhone, or an iPod Touch Gen 1 are shit out of luck, since they’ve only built these to work with the newest of models.

The iPod Surge will be available this month for $70, while the iPhone Surge for the 3G and 3GS will be available sometime this fall for the same price.

I never thought Canada would be the first to receive a new piece of Apple kit, but according to some leaked screen shots it appears as though Rogers will soon start to ship an 8GB iPhone 3GS in place of the slower 8GB iPhone 3G.  There’s now word on price, but it might be safe to assume it will cost $99 or $150 when it lands here in the US.
