My preference for an LCD photo frame is one that has WiFi built-in. But if you’re shopping for one for grandpa, who clearly is devoid of all things wireless, including a WiFi router, you might wanna checkout the Vizit photo frame.

At its core is a 10.4-inch 800×600 LED backlit touchscreen display. But that’s not the best part, it’s the built-in cellular chip; that means you don’t have to depend on a WiFi signal to send, respond or receive photos. But there’s a caveat; in addition to the high price tag ($280) you’ll have to subscribe to a monthly plan, which starts at $5.99 or you can get a premium yearly for $79.99, although it’s not clear what the premium part is.

Friends, family members and more can send photos to the frame by MMS, email or just via the Web. There is no inbuilt storage – the whole point is to utilize their proprietary photo sharing site (vizitme.com) to store and share your photos – but they’ve seen fit to add an SD card slot and USB input for adding and playing back local media.

If you’re so inclined to plunk down over $300 for your first year of use you can buy a Vizit LCD photo frame right now. It comes in 4 different finishes: Silver Finish with White Accent, Silver Finish with Teak Accent, Charcoal Finish with Black Accent and Charcoal Finish with Rosewood Accent

Beat the crap out of your gadgets much? Then you might want to take a look at Panasonic’s just announced Toughbook H1 Field. Yes, it’s another touchscreen computer, a tablet to be exact, but what really makes this thing 3.4lb machine attractive, aside from its ‘speak and spell’ form factor (kidding), is the military spec rating of MIL-STD-810 and IP65. Under the hood is a 1.86Ghz Intel Atom Z540 processor, a 64GB SSD, WiFi b/g, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, Global 3G connectivity, a 2 megapixel camera, RFID reader, 2GB of RAM and sunlight viewable 10.4-inch XGA touchscreen.

But with toughness comes a cost, $3,379 to be exact when it launches next month.

PANASONIC INTRODUCES TOUGHBOOK® H1 FIELD – WORLD’S MOST RUGGED
Toughbook mobile computers, so users have the confidence to work in the most demanding conditions.
With optional SmartCard, RFID, and barcode readers, camera, GPS and Qualcomm’s new Gobi2000™
swappable batteries that allow for limitless use, virtually eliminating down time and maximizing return on
investment.

“As workforces become more mobile, it’s critical to empower them with the right tools,” said Kyp Walls,
director of product management, Panasonic Computer Solutions Company. “The Toughbook H1 Field
mobile computing platform features 2GB of RAM and a 64GB reinforced flex-connect solid state drive.
The Toughbook H1 Field offers exceptional ergonomics, including a Panasonic designed system that
comfortably cradles the hand between the device and its molded hand strap. Other ergonomic features
include a well-balanced center of gravity, integrated handle, thoughtful placement of integrated features
and lack of hotspots, making the device safe and easy to use for long periods of time.

carrier certifications will be announced soon.

The Toughbook H1 Field includes multiple security features, including options for a contactless or
