Sprint Compatible Nexus One Coming Soon, Sprint Mum On Launch Date
March 17th, 2010 6:49 PM | by Christen da Costa
Yesterday Google finally offered the Nexus One unlocked and contract free for $529. Fresh on the heels of the aforementioned news comes word that Sprint has also adopted the Android based smartphone. As of now Sprint is mum on the launch date, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they try to push it out before the end of March to help boost their Q3 numbers. Then again, that might negate some sort of deal, as they’ve been pushing the smartphone on Big Red as ‘coming soon’ for sometime now.
Razer Launches First Ever Lefty Gaming Mouse, Gives High Fives With The Right Hand
March 17th, 2010 6:29 PM | by Chris Gullo
As a left-handed person, I’ve had plenty of annoying situations rise up from my dominant hand choice. Smudged pencil marks, awkward times with scissors — you get the idea. Razer is trying to scratch hardcore gaming off the list of annoyances with the announcement of the first gaming mouse designed specifically for left-handers. The Razer DeathAdder Left Hand Edition features an ergonomic form factor, a 3500dpi 3.5G infrared sensor, five programmable HyperResponse™ buttons, and works via USB connection. Sounds pretty sweet to me.
200 Page Per Minute Scanner Built By Japanese Research Team (video)

With e-books quickly becoming more and more popular, one can forget about the vast amounts of printed books yet to be digitized.
Masatoshi Ishikawa, a professor at the University of Tokyo, is trying to get those books scanned as quickly as possible. He has created a super fast scanner aptly-named the “Super Vision Chip.” Operating at 500fps, the camera scans images at 1280×1024 pixels; the device can scan a 200 page book in a minute, using both laser light and regular light. The technology can be used for other purposes — Ishikawa has already built it into robots he’s created. In any case, it’s definitely a cool way to keep old media fresh.

Obsessed Apple Fan Makes Steve Jobs Cheese Head
March 17th, 2010 2:28 PM | by Christen da Costa
How do you prove your overwhelming obsession with all things Apple? Simple, you make a bust of Steve Jobs’ head out of cheese. But that’s not the most disturbing recipe. Place it in a vat, melt it down, and you’ve got Spicy Steve Nachos Supreme.
The Dragonfly DF1 Helicopter’s Blades Are Powered By Two Small Rockets (video)
March 17th, 2010 2:22 PM | by Christen da Costa=
The Dragonfly DF1 helicopter might not be as interesting looking as that flying boat we saw a few weeks ago, but with closer examination it’s certainly an impressive technological feat.
Instead of using a conventional motor and fuel system to power the blade, two rockets are fixed to the rotors tips causing it to rotate fast enough for lift. Even cooler is that the rockets have a zero carbon footprint since they’re fueled by 70 percent hydrogen peroxide (H202), which is drawn from a pair of fuel tanks around the pilot’s seat.

AT&T’s Zero Charger Is Vampire Free
March 17th, 2010 2:01 PM | by Christen da Costa
AT&T has their fair share of advanced handsets, but the last thing I thought I’d ever see from them is a game changing wall charger, the Zero Charger. Wall charger you say? Sure did. What sets this one apart from the masses is that it draws absolutely NO power (i.e. vampire power) when plugged in and not in use. Other wall chargers, however, suck down a tiny bit of power regardless of whether or not they’re plugged into a device. Oh, and it’s USB, so it will work for the masses, not just one device.
Currently there is no word on a price or launch date, but you can sign up (I did) to be notified when it is available.
Astro A30: A High End Affordable Gaming Headset
March 17th, 2010 1:39 PM | by Chris Gullo
One word is appropriate to describe professional gamers: intense. You don’t win national tournaments like the MLG (Major League Gaming) without being committed. In 2008, Astro Gaming, a sub-studio of design firm Astro Studios, released their high quality A40 headset specifically for these gamers. Now, Astro is set to release a new model for the millions of Xbox Live and PC users who want the same sort of audio quality for their gaming sessions.
The Astro A30 headset looks to bring the same type of design as the professional level A40s to a more mainstream audience. It features three different lengths of cord, swapped via a small module on the set. Gaming on your PC? Use the small cord. Sitting on the couch a few feet away from your HDTV? Go for the long one. A detachable boom mic and inline mic are also included. Sounds like they got everything covered with these.
The Astro A30 headset is available now from Astro Gaming for $149.
