SanDisk “Something Big” Announcement Coming March 23rd, 2010

Sandisk Something Big

So SanDisk is set to release “something big” on March 23rd.  What is it?  Your guess is good as ours.  But if I had to wager a bet, I’d put my money on a wireless thumb drive, such as the AirStash.  After all, iPhone accessories are all the rage and with over 45 million on the market, it’s seems like a logical product, especially seeing as SanDisk memory cards are useless on the iPhone.

moviepeg

It’s Saturday, there’s not a ton of gadgets hitting the web so let’s dive into something on the somewhat benign side, shall we.

I present to you the MoviePeg.  Yes, it’s another iPhone accessory, and yes you could probably build something yourself to a achieve a comparable effect, but it’s simple and not that expensive.

So what’s it do?  The MoviePeg is a kickstand for your iPhone, in fact the kickstand that perhaps you wish you had always had.

GameBone iPhone GamePad Accessory

March 19th, 2010 10:04 PM | by Christen da Costa

gamebone

Playing games on the iPhone, is well, let’s say more of a time passer-byer than a sit down event.  But perhaps with the Gamebone gamepad accessory for the iPhone that will change…for some (I still won’t be gaming on  my iPhone, unless of course it’s Bejeweled).

Yes, it does bear a close resemblance to the PSP (as noted by Gizmodo), but what you can’t see is that it has a 2000mAh battery on board for extra game time, built-in stereo speakers, omni-directional mic and a 3.5mm headphone jack.  What you can see is that there is a full on d-pad, start/select buttons and 4 action buttons.

There is no word on a price or launch date, but they’re aiming for a Q4 launch.

Of note it looks slimmer and more pocket friendly then the iControlpad.

BLACKBERRY OS 6

Heads up, Blackberry owners: screenshots have leaked purporting to show the new Blackberry OS version 6.0. In the shots, what appears to be widgets are displayed on the smartphone’s home screen, which would allow users instant access to things like weather, stocks, and other info. The images are sourced from BBLeaks, who only say that they come from a very reliable source. If it turns out to be true, BB owners are going to be very happy campers soon.

JVC officially rolled out the GZ-HM550, an HD camcorder with built-in Bluetooth today.  Aside from recording the aforementioned 1920×1080 full HD videos, the GZ-HM550 can be controlled by a Bluetooth enabled smartphone with a yet to be announced application (I’d expect one on the iPhone).  Camcorder enthusiasts can also geo-tag their photos and videos with a Bluetooth connected GPS device or monitor/record sound with a connected Bluetooth headset.

Other features include 32GB of built-in memory, an SD/SDHC card slot for expansion, 9 megapixel stills, 5x optical zoom, LED light (works as flash as well), time lapse recordings and a 600fps high speed recoding mode for slow-mo.

The JVC GZ-HM550 is available now for $800.

Smart Meters Cause Issue In Texas, Drug Dealers Be Warned

March 19th, 2010 11:58 AM | by Christen da Costa

Smartmeter Issues

Why California Edison hasn’t rolled out smart meters is beyond my understanding, but it might actually be a good thing according to Inhabitat.  In Texas numerous customers have complained about sky rocketing bills after the meters had been installed.  Insult to injury, there are all sorts of privacy concerns to tackle.  Take for instance the issue of law enforcement sanctioning customer records to sniff out marijuana growers.

If you ain’t heard, smart meters provide a detailed breakdown of a household’s energy consumption.  Furthermore, it eliminates the need for meter readers to physically visit a property, which not only makes the whole process more efficient (and hopefully energy cheaper), but reduces the power company’s carbon footprint.

Lawn Mower Scooter, Are You Freakin’ Serious?

lawnmower_scooter

The only time I thought mowing the lawn was a cool thing, was when Patrick Dempsey did it to make money so he could score (buy) a super hot chick in “Can’t Buy Me Love”.  And today, despite the existence of the Lawn Mower Scooter concept, I still think the only cool time…you get the picture.

Possible HP Slate Price And Specs Leaked

March 19th, 2010 11:35 AM | by Christen da Costa

HP Slate

News hit today that the HP Slate, HP’s tablet computer, a competitor to the iPad, might cost as much as $540.  But, keep in mind that amount is derived from the rumored Euro price, a part of the world that always tends to be on the more expensive side when it comes to consumer goods; in other words it might be cheaper and more on par with iPad pricing ($499).

Antigravity Platform

How do you show off all your worldly positions in a manner only fit for a king?  Simple, you place it in the Antigravity Platform.  Say whatttt?!?!  Apparently it’s totally for realz, but the chosen item must be 3oz or less since the platform uses the force of magnetary.  You see, the base is a giant magnet and then ‘the shelf’, which is just another magnet, floats above it.  There’s even a set of Hollywoodeque premiere like set of lights if you so choose to really put your goods on display and they’ve even tossed in a globe.
