I know, I know, it doesn’t look real, but apparently some dude (François Knorreck) spent 10 years, 10,000 work hours and 15,000 Euros building the Snaefell, a motorcycle with the ultimate side car.  I was sort of hoping that the bike could detach from the side car and be independently propelled, but as you can see from the overhead shot it’s one complete body; a Unibody (wink) of sorts.  I have to question how well it handles, but considering its uniqueness does it really matter?

Yeah, you read the title right.  It’s called X-Flex bombproof wallpaper and based on PopSci’s test video I’d say it works.  Sure, this isn’t a full sized wall, like you’d find in a building or home, but one can only hope that the wallpaper’s strength scales relative to the wall size.

Applying the X-Flex wallpaper is just like any other.  Just peel off the plastic, expose the sticky backing and apply to your wall of choice.

Where there is fear there is sales, right?  And hence the The Verilux H1N1 Destroying UV Wand.  I’m a little disturbed by any device that’s success depend on a pandemic, but then again that’s pretty much the medical industry on the whole.

This $70 device, which uses a hospitable grade UV light, can destroy up to 99.98% of the H1N1 virus after a five-second exposure when held 3/4″ above the contaminated surface.  And before you suggest a liquid cleaner, consider the prospect of cleaning a couch, keyboard or other difficult to penetrate surfaces with a spray or over the counter cleanser.

Total run time on an 8 hour charge is about 90 minutes, but they’ve tossed in some tech to make it auto shutoff when held vertically.

Oh what I’d do for a head massage right now.  You know, like the ones you get at the salon when you get your hair did (I use to go to one in Boston).

Ah, but now I don’t have to go to a salon, that is assuming the Headtime scalp massager ever makes its way state side.  29 rubber like feet gently rub your scalp while the sounds of the wild – birds, waterfalls, etc – play on the units built-in speaker system.

Okay, so this thing looks ridiculous and the likelihood of anyone wearing it at the office is super few and far between, but no one can deny the relaxing feeling that is invoked when someone massages your dome.

This video is apparently from 2007 so I feel a bit remiss posting in now, but hey, here goes.  NTT DoCoMo, the Japanese telecom had plans to introduce a phone that could help middle aged businessmen and young women lose weight.  It included a pedometer and software to keep you on track.  But that’s not even the cool stuff.  Muck like the KissMe breath analyzer, this phone also features a sensor that can tell you how bad your breath is.  So thinking about it more, I’d say the phone is all about getting you some tail – stay in shape and have good breath – yeah, definitely about getting you a date.

Maybe, just maybe, we spoil our pets a bit too much.

Oh, sure, we don’t think twice about the occasional chew bone or some such, but some dogs today eat better than some people do.  Plus there’s the add-ons–clothing lines for pets, Xbox Live subscriptions (when do they PLAY??), dog houses made of crystal, even health insurance for pets!  It’s crazy!  And it only gets weirder when I start talking about the electronic dog door.

Dubbed the Plexidor Pet Door, it’s an electronic dog door with a vertical sliding door that slides up when your pet, who’s wearing an RFID chip in his or her collar, gets sufficiently close to it.

It’s a great measure for folks concerned about burglars using the pet door as a means of entry (a la Home Alone), but still wanting your pet to have the maximum amount of freedom.  They cost a whopping eight hundred bucks a pop, and that’s before you add on the cost of professional installment.  This thing has to be HARDWIRED into your house’s electrical system.

Still, it’s terribly awesome, and if you like even having the latest gadgets for your dog, then this one should be on your list.

Halloween might be over, but there is always a little room for a trick.  The ‘Ghost Mirror’ shows any onlooker’s image from afar, but as they draw closer to the mirror their appearance begins to fade into obscurity.  The mirror is probably a one of a kind from the mind of Oliver Sidet and uses a combination of physics and lighting to achieve this odd feat.  While I have no way of confirming if it actually works, I’d gladly purchase one for my home since it could double as both a piece of art and a way of creating the perception of more space in my shoe box of an apartment.

When I first fired up the page for the Sanicare Travel Bidet/Portable Bidet, I wasn’t reading ‘bidet’ correctly, that is until I got to the description.  Yup, I’m afraid to say that this little sucker is for washing your nonmentionables, and I don’t mean your underwear.  Perhaps it’s my US up bringing, but I found this little gadget to be disturbing on so many levels.  Check some of the marketing text:

Talk about a party favor.  I mean who doesn’t like to trip?  Having recently experienced CornField Electronics’ Trip Glasses, I’m very glad there is not one part of me that is epileptic.  The packaging makes note of some sort of meditation that can occur when you wear the glasses but I don’t believe that malarky one bit.  Perhaps if your definition of meditation is in fact hallucination, then maybe.

To explain it bluntly, the Trip Glasses are less like glasses and more like a kaleidoscope of blunt force trauma to your senses.  Some people who tried it had mixed results, but I can honestly say that I could trigger my inner shroom no problem. 

Back to what these things are.  I suppose you could call them a personal light show.  They are really easy to use and are great to have around when partying, hitting the bong, or stuffing LSD into open wounds with a shovel.

All you do is put the glasses and earphones on and hit the start button.  The light show sequence lasts for 14 minutes and there is no off button.  The best way I described how to use the glasses to those who tried it was to gently close your eyes and try and look through your eyelids.

I couldn’t last all that long before I had to remove them, but it didn’t matter.  I’d say if you like that type of artwork where you have to stare at the pixelated image until an object appears, than the Trip Glasses will definitely work for you.  I felt like I could really control the patterns I was seeing and it was crazy.  Hippies will love this thing no doubt!

What didn’t really help was the droning brain freeze noise that oozed out of the attached earphones.  That’s not to say that you couldn’t listen to your own jam band music while using the Trip Glasses and the earphones are removable as well.

Over the course of the 14 minute sequence the lights inside the glasses change without warning and you’re instantly teleported to all new trip zone.  Using them in the late afternoon into the early evening they looked really sweet in the dark as the wearer resembled Satan, or some other type of evil being to say the least.

What more can I say about these things?  If you like to trip out or know someone who does the Trip Glasses are a real one of a kind “legal” way to trip.  I wouldn’t recommend wearing these all day or putting them on someone who’s sleeping but like anything else, moderation is the best approach.

Priced at $40, some of you will say “hey, that’s about the price of a bag of weed”, but these Trip Glasses will last way longer.  End result is that you should take a week off the weed and buy these glasses.  Jerry thanks you.

• Visually trip out immediately
• Great for parties and times of inebriation
• Legal

Cons:

• Don’t use them for too long
• Sounds could have been cooler
• Not suited for everybody

Good lord.  I am constantly vexed by all these seemingly worthless products making it to the assembly line.  Last week we saw the Undead Japanese Warrior controller for the PS3, and this week we have the Fire Breathing Dragon controller for the Xbox 360.

While it looks cool at first glance, shortly upon second glance the question arises about the ergonomics of this controller.  Is it comfortable?  Even with the removable tail I really don’t think so.

If you care, this Dragon Controller is priced around $29 and is compatible with Windows Vista, XP, 2000, ME and 98 as well as supporting vibration functions.
