Called the iFund, Kleiner Perkins has pledged $100 million towards the developers of iPhone applications. The venture fund will look for apps that are “marketing-changing ideas” and focus on areas such as location based services, social networking, mobile commerce, communication, and entertainment (pretty much everything if you ask me).
Crunchgear is further disseminating a Fox News report that the 3G iPhone will appear either June 24 or July 1st. Fox isn’t exactly known for their accurate or ‘fair and balanced’ reporting, but then again the iPhone doesn’t influence any political competitions…or does it?
I’ve heard that a 3G and WiFi chip in one device will make it ultra expensive.
The ’sort of’ because Apple managed to eclipse Dell in laptop sales to ‘higher education’ only, in 2007. That means people studying at the degree or college level. This stat was further affirmed by Oklahoma Christian University who has moved away from Dell laptops and offered a program that allows PC users to trade in their current machines for Macbooks. This news comes on the heels of the university that’s offering a ‘free’ iPhone upon enrollment.
The guys at Wired put this together. Interesting, yes, but accurate, not entirely, especially (and Wired makes this point) since Apple’s stock fell before the Macbook Air was released. Nonetheless, the svelte bodied machine didn’t help matters. Take it as you will and talk to Wired if you got a beef.
Steve Jobs, the master of spin, pulled the new Macbook Air out of a manila envelope at this year’s Macworld conference. So what did some creative folks do to capitalize on the spin? Make a Macbook Air sleeve that resembles the same envelope of course – includes the red string as well. There’s also versions for the 15” and 17” Macbook Pro. Crafted of Poly microfiber and lined with a fuzzy neoprene lining (I didn’t know neoprene could be fuzzy), these sleeves will cost you $62, $68, and $72 respectively.
Available immediately are all new capacities for the iPhone and iPod touch, 16GB and 32GB respectively. The 16GB iPhone and the 32GB iPod Touch will both run you $499. Unlike the iPhone, Apple continues to offer 3 capacities in for the iPod Touch.
It’s Friday, and contrary to the excitement of the weekend arriving I’m feeling a little bitter. So I figured why not tool on a product. The point of having an MP3 player, or portable audio player, is for the speed and ease of loading a massive amount of songs, right? RCA Rip and Go, which has been around for sometime, just introduced a new model that sports an iPod dock built-in. What’s suppose to be cool is that you can rip CDs directly to your iPod without a computer. The problem: these days most iPods are 30GBs or larger. Even with the 5 disc changer it’d take you all day to load. Did I mention it only Rips to 128kbps. Also, notice the old iPod Nano featured in the pic. Is RCA gonna even bother to release this thing? Sorry RCA, but you’re Energy Efficient rating goes right out the window when you have to rip CDs for 24 hours. Why the hell do companies keep releasing this crap?!?

Playing guitar is hard enough, right? Now imagine trying to play guitar on an iPhone. Pocket Guitar, believe it or not, allows you to strum in up to three types of guitar setups: distortion, acoustic and electric bass. It looks unbelievably cool and intuitive. There are a few YouTube videos floating around. No doubt you’ll have to Jailbreak, but maybe that’ll change with the SDK kit released this month.
