WoWee’s Cinemin Swivel, which we saw at CES this past year, is now officially available for pre-order. For $349.99 you get a TI powered DLP Pico projector that features a 2 hour rechargeable battery, 8 ANSI lumens, a built-in speaker, iPod/iPhone adapter and a 480×320 resolution picture at 6 to 6-inches in size. What sets the Cinemin Swivel apart from the pact is its 90 degree hinge allowing images to be projected at a variety of angles, even on the ceiling. Expect it to ship sometime this September.

I really gotta hand it to PhoneSuit. Why? Because, they continue to stick to their guns and battle it out in the iPhone accessory market. Although I wasn’t floored with their first battery back, the Mili Pro iPhone Video Projector looks to be the stuff dreams are made of. They’ve combined a tiny LCOS LED projector with their battery pack to produce a highly portable – palm sized in fact – projector that can display up to a 40-inch 640×480 image (it can go as large at 70-inches, but 40 is optimal). There is no official word on playback time, but it does include a built-in speaker, RCA inputs, a 10 lumen output and is compatible with all iPhones and iPods. Price of the Mili Pro iPhone Video Projector is TBD and you can expect it to arrive this September just in time for the holidays.

How many pixels are too many pixels? JVC may have the answer. The consumer electronics company has plans to release an 8k projector. That’s 8,192 x 4,320 pixels, which compared to today’s 1920×1080 HD resolution is ridiculously large. It can also pump out 10,000 lumens of brightness and a 5,500:1 contrast ratio. And to compliment their 8k behemoth, JVC also showed off a 4k (3840 x 2160) camcorder, that appears to be for studio use since it lacks any of the film like features one would expect. Costs of the projector is unknown, but the camera is rumored to cost over $200,000.

I was under the impression that Pico Projectors were cool. I guess it takes a lot these days for the big blogs to be impressed. The Forever Plus Pico Projector might just do that. For five minutes at least. The first Pico Projector to display at 720p, the Forever Plus has a native 1,280 x 768 native resolution, a HDMI output and a “projected” lamp life of 30,000 hours. Seems cool to me. No word yet on pricing or availability.

When setting up the ultimate home theater experience money is no object right? So why not spend an extra grand on the Gefen Wireless HDMI Extender! Suited mostly for hanging displays and ceiling projectors, the HDMI Extender can send up to 3 HD sources at 1080p to any one location from up to 30 feet away, less if not “line of sight” or through walls, etc. Containing two HDMI inputs and one component the Extender acts as a HD video switcher. I’d like to see how nice this really looks and wether or not there’s any interference. The pics look quality, but where are the mounting brackets? Looks as though it may not fit flush between the wall and the TV. Seems like a cool product, just crazy expensive.

I can’t wait until talking s**t about Madden at a convenience store turns into a pigskin brawl on the quickiemart wall in the parking lot. Soon enough I hope. With all these mini projectors popping up everywhere, it’s likely we’ll soon see these sort of throw downs on the streets. The P1 by AAXA has some cool features to it:
- VGA (640 x 480) resolution
- Capable of a 60 inch image
- MP3, WMA, OGG, WAV, AVI, WMV, SMV, BMP, JPG, GIF, TXT and HTML file compatability
- Built in speaker
- 1000:1 contrast ratio
- 12 ANSI lumens
- Headphone jack
- Composite A/V input
- Micro SD card slot
- 1 GB of internal memory
- Swappable Internal battery for wireless presentations & gaming on the go
The basic bundle comes with an AV cable and power cord for $259. For $289 you get an additional mini tripod, USB cable, and Mico SD card.
