Barnes And Noble e-reader-1

Pictured above is supposedly Barnes and Noble’s e-reader.  While specs and a wireless carrier have yet to be announced, or leaked in this case, rumor has it that it has an e-ink display on the top 3/4 of the device for reading magazines and books, while the lower quarter is a color LCD screen that will not only be good for perusing book covers but will double as a touchscreen keyboard or mutlitouch surface.  …Continue reading: Gadget Leak: Barnes And Noble’s E-Reader Has Two Screens

Gaming Leak: Could This Be A Video Of EA’s New Road Rash? (video)

October 10th, 2009 7:51 PM | by Jeff Bordeaux

Playing Road Rash many years ago, I can still clearly remember how violently visceral it was.  Smashing people in the face at high speeds with chains couldn’t easily be outdone in those days.

With brutal violence playing a major role in today’s video games, I had recently played Road Rash 1, 2, and 3 through the Sega Genesis Collection for the PSP and can say that they seemed pretty tame at best.

While nothing is confirming the video exactly, it looks awesome and the sense of speed is really captured to great effect.  I’m hoping we soon see a leak of a new Desert/Jungle/Soviet/Nuclear/Future Strike game!

Gadget Leak: Gateway’s EC18T Tablet PC

October 6th, 2009 1:06 PM | by Christen da Costa

Gateway EC18T Tablet PC

Gateway has become a pretty small gang member in the laptop turf wars, but that doesn’t mean the company is devoid of leaks and what I dare say is anticipation.  There’s no official word as of yet, but according to a tipster this is their soon to be announced tablet PC, called the EC18T.  Specs wise were looking at an 11.6-inch LCD, Intel Core2 Duo processor, up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM, Mobile Intel GS45 Express graphics chipset, and either Windows 7 Basic or Premium.  …Continue reading: Gadget Leak: Gateway’s EC18T Tablet PC

Gadget Leak: FCC Filing For New Apple Bluetooth Keyboard And Mouse

October 3rd, 2009 11:44 AM | by Christen da Costa

apple-bluetooth-keyboard-fcc-leak

Not a week can go by with out some Apple news bubbling to the top of the rumor pot.  Engadget uncovered an FCC filing that depicts a brand new Apple Bluetooth keyboard that is smaller than the current versions and a mightier Mighty Mouse.  Unfortunately, details are few and far between, but with rumors floating around of a new iMac set to hit the market this just all seems to be affirmation of their impending arrival.  Even more interesting is that Apple modified the images for the FCC filing after these documents were discovered, which only lends greater credence to everything I just said.

Gaming Leak: Dead Space 2 A Reality And Now In Pre-Production

September 30th, 2009 4:20 PM | by Jeff Bordeaux

dead_space_2l

I really liked the first Dead Space.  I even watched the animated prequel on Blu-Ray.  It had decent pacing, some really cool and brutally violent weapons, and atmospheric graphics and sound design.  Most reviews I had read said it had taken the true survival horror reigns from RE5 which had somehow turned into an action game.  While I think I knew about an inherent sequel given the outcome of the original game, this is the first I’m hearing about it on the web.

This info was leaked though a LinkedIn Job Posting by Visceral Games looking for a lead combat designer.  Oops!  Apparently in the later stages of pre-production, the core team from the first game is working diligently to improve what was already an awesome game.  With the essential gameplay and navigational mechanics in place the game should start to see production in the coming months.  The game is being developed for the Xbox 360 and PS3.

It looks like Verizon is set to launch yet another HTC phone, yet this one, the HTC XV6975 Imagio, lacks a physical QWERTY keyboard. While price and actual launch date are still unknown, specs wise were looking at a 3.6-inch touchscreen, Windows Mobile 6.5, microSD card slot, 3.5mm headphone jack, 528mhz processor of some sort, 5mp autofocus camera, WiFi…

Sony’s Motion Controller Gets Launch Date

September 25th, 2009 9:32 AM | by Steve Anderson

sonymotioncontrolerps3

What we once called a gadget rumor back in May turns out to be very much correct, folks–recently verified by a long and tortuous process that includes a French Sega web site discovering an internal Sony memo, the Sony motion-capture controller has been confirmed.

And what’s more, it’ll launch this spring.

The leaked memo described Sony’s attempt to license various Dreamcast games for Sony’s systems, but also presented an interoperability feature between the Sony PSP and the Playstation 3, as well as a Sony launch in Japan, slated for March, for the motion-capture controller.

From there, suppositions were made that suggest the motion capture device is intended to work not only with the Playstation 3, but also with the PSP, since the two are working towards interoperability.

It’s big news, folks, and it’ll pose the kind of thing we’ll need to keep an eye on for months to come.

According to a leaked B&H Photo product page, Archos is set to refresh their Archos 5 Internet Tablet with not only a new, svelter form factor but a brand new OS.

The 5-inch touchscreen device’s OS will now be Android.  It will be avaialble in a variety of capacities and include an optional $130 DVR system.  While the prices have now been taken down and replaced with “tba”, Archosfans.com was diligent enough to snag a screen capture.  The 16GB and 32GB flash based models will cost $293.95 and $369.95 respectively, while the hard drive based models, available in a 160GB and 500GB capacity will set you back $319.95 and $419.95 respectively.

Word is that the updated Archos 5 will hit the street on 9/15, but I can neither deny or confirm that date.
