Xbox 360 (Not Elite) with HDMI

Xbox 360 Core with HDMI
I’m sorry.  I thought you could only get HDMI if you bought the Elite system?  According to this Amazon listing you can pick up the Xbox 360 with 20GB HD and HDMI for $350.

Anyone else thrown for a loop?

How to Get the iPhone for Cheaper

Yuppers…note that I didn’t say for ‘free’.

I’m actually pondering getting an iPhone and realized that my 2 year with Cingular/AT&T is about to end. So I am entitled to renew my contract with Cingular/AT&T and as a ‘reward’ get a new phone at ‘new customer’ cost (otherwise known as an ‘equipment upgrade’).

Since the iPhone is available to everyone, contract or not contract with AT&T, you’re best off to renew your contract if eligible (since you’ll do this anyway when activating the iPhone), get the new phone (think Blackberry or whatever is free and can be sold for a few hundred), sell it, and then offset the cost of the iPhone. Then register the new iPhone via iTunes and extend your 2 year contract yet again, but albeit a day or two later. I don’t know what the ‘fine print’ will say, but everything I’ve been reading seems to indicate that this should might be legit.

Update:  Looks like this should work per the ATT&T site (this is from their FAQ): “Q. I just upgraded my phone recently. Are there any penalties or restrictions for upgrading to iPhone right away?
A.
No. Everyone can upgrade to iPhone right away.

Costco Cancels Bottomless Return Policy

Costco Logo
Amid concerns that Costco’s ‘bottomless’ or ‘endless’ return policy was impacting margins and ultimately its stock price, the warehouse retailer today revised its Consumer Electronics return policy to reflect a 90 day window. I’ve emailed their customer service department to see if consumers that purchased electronic devices (defined as Televisions, computers, cameras, camcorders, iPOD/MP3 players and cellular phones) prior to the change would be ‘grandfathered’ into the old return policy. Stay tuned for more details.

UPDATE: We found a Costco memorandum indicating that those who purchased before the new policy rollout will be grandfathered into the old policy. Furthermore, Costco will extend the manufacture’s warranty by 2 years for those purchasing under the new return policy.  See the memorandum just below for complete details.

Microsoft’s Zune for $90 at Amazon

Zune Discounted
In case you didn’t here about the Xbox 360 sale at Amazon - 1000 core systems went for $100 - Microsoft’s 30GB Zune will go for $90 (usually retails for $230) some time shortly - probably later this week as the random selection begins tonight. There are only a 1000 units at this price, so when it does go on sale, it’ll go quick.

Head over to Amazon to check out the deal.
