The reviews are in and the Intel Core i7, aka Nehalem, is receiving some rave reviews. In the next few days prepare to be bombarded with phrases such as “absolutely blazing!”, “industry-changing!”, “poor AMD!”, and “world peace!?”
The Core i7 is Intel’s next gen processor, significantly surpassing the performance of their Core 2 architecture. Core i7 will scale from 2 to 8 processor cores and each chip will communicate with the others using the faster and more efficient QuickPath technology. Other highlights include better power management, higher level of integration, more scalable memory, and increased multitasking.
Check out the benchmarks here.

Just in time for the holidays, Canon has slapped their Selphy CP770 printer with a Hello Kitty finish. The printer has a built-in bucket that’s intended for storing photos, AC cord and whatever other crap you wanna tote along with you.
Expect it sometime this November, although I’m not sure it will make it State side.

It’s pretty few and far between when I’m in need of a washable and wireless keyboard. But if you work in a hospital where projectile vomit is all to likely, you’ll be wanting one of iKey’s latest Bluetooth keyboards, the BT-87-TP. Complete with trackpad, the BT-87-TP is waterproof, works with your computer’s built-in Bluetooth and features a built-in trackpad.
Price is unknown, but you can snag it here

Synchrotech, the smart folks that they are released an adapter yesterday that’ll convert Firewire 400 devices to be compatible with the Macbook Pros’ only Firewire port, Firewire 800. It’s on the cheap too, costing just $9 here.

Don’t expect to cruise down to your local Staples and pick up this printer any time soon. The Alaris 30 Desktop 3D printer requires a CAD file and a $40,000 bank roll. But once you’ve dragged the 180lb printer back to the office you’ll be knocking out detailed 3D models.
“It works by shooting out photopolymer in thin layers into a tray. These layers are cured right away using UV light. As each layer stacks on top of each other, the form becomes complete. It builds the model right before your eyes.”

Pardon me while I reserve my excitement for something, well, more exciting. Averatec is set to unleash an 18.4-inch version of their all-in-one desktop PC (they’ve already got a 22-inch version available here) with a consumer friendly price tag. Expect 1GB of DDR2 RAM, 160GB hard drive, Windows XP and the low power consuming Intel 1.6GHz N270 Atom processor.
The Averatec All-in-one 18.4-inch PC will be available here shortly, for $550.

If you’re an IT maven you’ll probably be pleased with Shuttle’s latest release, the X2700. It’s loaded with a 1.67Ghz Intel Atom 230 processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, a 120GB hard drive, WiFi b/g, gigabit Ethernet, DVD burner, a whole mess of ports, and a GMA950 video card. Alternatively, you could just buy the box and fill it with all the goodies your heart desires.
The Linux based computer is available here for about $380. I prefer Shuttle’s D10 desktop with a built-in 10-inch touchscreen LCD.

Razer unveiled two new versions of its gaming keyboard, the Lycosa, today. The Lycosa Mirror adds a polished finish to the keyboard’s surface and is complimented by enhanced backlighting (pictured). The Arctosa is designed for the gamer on a budget and foregos the backlighting for silver on black lettering, or black on black lettering for the no look gamer. The previous Lycosa gaming keyboard featured a rubber finish that apparently didn’t sit well with gamers - rubber and sweat don’t always mix well regardless of the anti-slip abilities.
Both keyboards are available direct from Razer this November for $80 and $50 respectively.

I’m no media center fanatic, but this low profile (2.7-inches) unit from Okoro Media System struck a cord with the aesthetics snob in me. The OMS-SX100 is equipped with an AMD dual core Athlon X2 processor, is energy ‘green’ and comes standard with a 500GB hard drive, DVD burner, 2GB of RAM, HMDI, DVI and VGA output and runs Windows Vista Home Premium. It rocks the latest audio decoding, and for a little extra cash you can double the RAM, toss in a Blu-ray drive, and double the hard drive capacity. Looks like you can add SageTV or Snapstream during the config process, and they’re said to be launching a CableCard ready version in the near future. Choose between black and white.
The OMS-SX100 is available here starting at $1,695 and ships November 6th.
