SoloPipe is a Smoker’s Delight

July 23rd, 2007 12:09 AM | by Christen da Costa

SoloPipe
I gotta be honest…I didn’t take a single puff out of this thing, but its ‘wow’ factor is more then enough to show it off to friends and family. Very easy to use. Just draw back the metal slide, insert the brown or green stuff, pull the trigger and you’re in business. What makes the Solopipe truly unique is the ‘all in one’ build - refillable butane lighter and pipe. The sliding door keeps the ‘tobacco’ safely in place during travel and its solid metal build means you can toss it between friends. I’m not a smoke but I am truly impressed with this device.

Official site here. No price mentioned on the site and you’ll have to email (info@solopipe.com) to get ordering info. Sorry, no shopping cart.

Update: My buddy pointed a few key things - only something a smoker would know.

1) What do you do when it gets clogged? There are two screws but this thing don’t look built for disassembling.

2) The screen that holds the (wacky) tobacco doesn’t seem replicable, let alone accessible.

3) Lastly, when’s the last time you smoked out of a metal pipe voluntarily? Comment below if you have some thoughts.

Dada Code-M MP3 Shoes Finally Make an Appearance (an Ugly One at that)

Dada Code-M MP3 Shoes 2
Remember those ridiculous Dada MP3 sneakers we featured some many months back? CNet got their hands on a pair and did a quick video review. Turns out that those silver discs on the sneaker’s side are in fact speakers (we thought they might be) – they say sound quality is sub par but no surprise there. Total storage capacity is 124mb (why not 128mb – firmware?) and according to CNet, the actual MP3 player is built in to the sole of the shoe just under the foot padding. Controls are administered from the tongue and a pair of Bluetooth headphones are included, although we didn’t see them in the video. Still no official word on release date, price, or battery length. One thing’s for sure, though: you’ll get your ass kicked for wearin’ a pair of these on or off the court.

Clip on Earbuds for the Accessory Junkie

Earmecca Earphone Earrings
Although we’re usually not ones to report on headphones, these little ear buds seemed worthy.  Serving both those in motion and those requiring a touch of style - accessory junkies will love these - the Earmecca ‘EP series’ headphones include an earring like clip that attaches the base of the buds to the lobe.  They come in 10 different styles and swivel 360 degrees when locked into place.  Probably serve a purpose on the treadmill, but wait of the ‘jewel’ should be a concern.

Boom Bag

Boom Bag

Covertly share your music with the masses via the Boom Bag.  Featuring a ‘full range speaker’ and a built-in battery, the Boom Bag is constructed of weather proof material designed to protect your MP3 player from the elements.  Looks like you can control volume from the white tag.  Apparently, its still in design phase, but we get the distinct feeling that production is likely.

USB Bra

Nerds can finally get to second base with the ladies thanks to the USB bra.  This brassiere  features a USB male and female connector as the hook.

I actually received this as a joke e-mail so no idea if it’s actually manufacturered or not.

DNA Pendant

DNA PendantsMiss that loved one?  Maybe a little too much?  Maybe in a creepy way?  Well now you can carry their DNA around your neck thanks to the DNA Pendant by  Japan’s  Eiwa Industry.  There are two pendant design choices and they’ll even interlock.  Perfect for re-married widows to remember the past.  Okay, not funny.

The package will set you back $428, and that includes the extracting the DNA from a nail or hair.  Now I’m guessing these pendants are for people waiting to one day restore a loved one thanks to cloning.  However, I’d probably recommend a safe.  Much less creepy.

Ventura Kinetic Digital Watch

Ventura Kinetic Digital Watch

Ventura has annunced The V-Tech Sigma ∑ MGS, the first digital watch with its own rechargable power-source. It will be powered by kinetics — your body movement.  While this technology is not new to the analogue world, this would mark the first kinetic digital watch.

The sexy new Ventura Sigma will feature the Ventura EasySkroll Knob and operating system encased in scratch-resistent stainless steel.  The watch’s actual display will be on the side of the watch and the generator placed on the top.  The generator will be visible through a sapphire crystal glass.

Pretty good looking, but is it worth the $1,750?

RFID Blocking Wallet

RFID Blocking Wallet

Worried that big brother is always watching?  Well since there’s supposedly RFID chips in a lot of our currency and credit cards, DIFRWEAR has come up with a RFID Blocking Wallet for the paranoid.

The RFID Blocking Wallet works by using a layer of RF shielding that prevents RFID readers from reading the tags stored within.  Other than that, it’s pretty much a wallet for $15.
