Cold fingers on the slopes may not only be dangerous from a Frostbrite standpoint, but can prove to be a significant distraction from enjoying that freshly packed powder. Sure, you could opt for those reheatable pocket warmers, but those are only good while you have your hands stuffed inside your pocket and often require boiling water to reset them. Forget that.

Warmthru Heated Gloves run off a set of included 7.4V rechargeable batteries that will keep your fingers and hands toasty warm. Unfortunately, the battery pack is not integrated into the glove liner itself and instead wraps around your arm, just below and attaches to the glove using a small cord. At 100% heat the heated glove liners will last up to 4 hour or 6 hours at 50%.

Included in the package are a set of waterproof ski gloves that have been outfitted with rubber dots for added grip, a charger compatible with the car that is able charge both batteries simultaneously and two rechargeable batteries.

All this will cost you, though. Total price for one pair (available in S-L) is about $220.

Think wallet and you’ll probably conjure up an image of something leather. Sure, it’s a practical material for such an accessories as it’s very durable and ages well (it looks better as time goes on). But, leather is oh-so boring – at least in our opinion – since it is so conventional and doesn’t separate you, the individual from every other iPhone carrying hipster. So how about wood.

The Wallet Slim Wood is made entirely from wood and is large enough to hold one credit card and one ID. So, there is no room for cash or an insurance card, but you probably won’t need that if you’re doing a night out on the town. The content will stay secure thanks to a fancy magnetic enclosure and you’ll score yourself a sure fire conversation starter.

The Wallet Slim Wood costs $55 and is available in light maple, medium cherry, or a dark walnut wood.

The latest Captain America movie (yes, there were others) was by far and away the best of not only the series, but of one of the best of the comic book genre. Sure, things got a bit stale towards the end of the flick, but the beginning, which is when the protagonist goes from geek to massively strong freak, was a fun and entertaining watch.

To be totally candid, though, we weren’t all that impressed with Captain America’s digs…as in costume. In our opinion it looked kind of cheap if not cheesy. But on the upside, that’s made it easier to produce a hoodie that is pretty damn close to the silver screen version. All the details in this iteration (there were others) have been sewn on and embroided adding a level of authenticity that mimics the on screen costume. For posterity’s sake, this full zip sweatshirt is made from 60% cotton and 40% polyester, so it should be very soft to the touch. Just make sure you turn it inside out when you wash it, otherwise the sewn on details might get ripped or torn.

Unfortunately, it’s currently out of stock at ThinkGeek.

Watches aren’t hard to come by. That said, it ain’t easy to find a watch that gets our motor ticking (get it?). Casio recently teamed up with LA-based lifestyle brand The Hundreds to produce the G-Shock GW 5610. It sports a clean look unlike some of Casio’s other G-Shock watches thanks to the sleek all white band, black bezel and digital negative display. We don’t know the price at this juncture, but word on the street is that it will launch this March or April.

Lucas never ceases to amaze us. Just about everything and anything a kid can wear has been ran through the Star Wars machine. What is the Star Wars machine? It converts just about any product into a must have item. Back in the day it was just figurines, toys and maybe the occasional lunch box. But not we’re talking video games, mind controlled board games and now even sneakers – to be truthful they made sneakers back in the day as well (this writer has a pair).

Unfortunately, they’re designed for kids only, but if you happen to have very small feet you can score your own pair from Stride Rite. There are a handful of versions, but only two of them light up; Lighted Captain Rex (good/Jedi) and Dualing Light Saber (evil/Sith). There is also a Darth Maul pair, which apparently are lighted, but barely, at least when compared with the first two. And let’s not overlook the toddler versions, which are beyond adorable.

You can get your kids into a pair of the light up Star Wars shoes for $56.

Sipping on a hot coffee will heat your body internally, but who would’ve thought that wearing it could have the same effect.

Virus, a California based clothing company, uses the left overs from coffee production, otherwise known as Coffee Char, or coffee charcoal to manufacture their clothing. That’s right, they repurpose the coffee remnants to produce base layer clothing. And get this, it purportedly can trap body heat providing up to 10 degrees of added warmth. And to complete the trifecta of awesomeness – so far they’ve scored with eco and utility – their clothing is extremely efficient at wicking away moisture, stopping the fabric from getting that good old stink your t-shirts have long sustained after a long jog or power lifting session.

Unlike many items we feature on this site, these are available now directly from Virus’ website. They start at $31, which will get you a pair of their boxers and top out at $61 for Sleeveless top.

Suffice to say Garmin has pretty much dominated the workout space when it comes to tracking your fitness routine. That isn’t to say there aren’t other players in the space, but Garmin’s Forerunner watches, and variations there of, are probably the most robust and one of the most reliable. Now Magellan wants in on the action and has released the Switch Up (they also make a lesser version called the Switch).

Much like Garmin’s Forerunner watch you can mount this bad boy to your wrist and track your pace, elevation, location, speed and much more. This version also includes a bike mount for those competing in triathlons, and if Magellan is to be believed switching from the wrist mount to the bike mount should be a snap. Thanks to ANT+ tech it can work wirelessly with a compatible heart rate monitor as well as a a foot pod and bike sensor for added info.

All this data is displayed on a 1.26-inch high resolution screen, which is apparently viewable even in direct sunlight. That’s assuming of course you’ve still got juice left in the rechargeable battery, which should be good for up to 8 hour of continuous use when in workout mode or 3 weeks when in just watch mode. Score the add-on battery pack and you can extend the time between charges by up to 24 hours or 9 weeks, respectively.

The whole package is waterproof up to 50 meters and let’s not overlook the barometric altimeter and outdoor temperature sensor, something Garmin hasn’t included in any of their Forerunner devices to date. However, Garmin does boast Garmin Connect, their social networking like service, which allows athletes to share data, trails as well as compete with one and other in a virtual format directly on the device. That said, we’re not sure that Magellan has a chance in hell when it comes to competing with them, but our hats are still off to them for a robust device that seems like it can easily stand the test of time, as well as multiple climates.

Magellan hasn’t said when they’ll start selling the Switch Up, but expect it to cost $300, or $350 with a heart rate monitor.

Keep our shoes securely strapped to our feet has never been an issue. That doesn’t mean we wouldn’t jump on the chance to wear Marty McFlies sneakers, which are are “self lacing.” Nike released a version of the <a href="http://www.gadgetreview.com/2011/09/nike-air-mag-sneakers.html"title="Nike Air Mag" >Back to the Future sneakers late last year and despite owning a patent for such a shoe, they failed to offer the futuristic feature – cost for the shoes would have been astronomical if not impossible to manufacturer. That’s why we’ll have to settle for adidas’ SLVR Plim Lace High Tops.

adidas has incorporated a unique lacing system that runs through the tongue of the shoe insuring not just a unique look but an ultra snug fit. The shoe appears to be crafted from leather and features a white toecap. In addition to a black version, they’ll also offer a white model of the sneaker, though the toe cap will remain the same color, white.

adidas hasn’t released any additional info regarding the price of these shoes, but expect them to fetch a premium on Ebay once they sell out.

Hanger innovation – as in a clothes hanger - isn’t exactly a burgeoning market that calls for fireworks let alone a marketing budget. But that’s exactly why there are sites like Quirky, which are user driven and only produce a product if there is actual demand; a certain amount of people have to commit at the correct price point.

The Swoop is specifically designed to keep dresses and long pants from dragging on the floor of your closet. It acts as an everyday hanger with the added benefit of a second hanger that neatly fits inside the first hanger, thus providing a shelf for pants or a dress to hang on. This prevents them from touching the ground and negates the possibility of wrinkles and creases from folding your clothing over the hanger two fold. The main hanger incorporates a plastic body, while the second portion is made from stainless steel and uses a foam roller to reduce wrinkling. And while it’s not specifically intended for a men’s suit, the main hanger could hold the jacket and the second hanger the pants. Lastly, anyone who is tight on closet room, could double up pants and shirts and save on space.

So how much would you pay for this? Tell Quirky, and we might actually see the Swoop go into production.

If the pictures are to be believed, this $30 beanie might be the best deal around town to keep your ears and noggin toasty warm this winter. Don’t believe us? Then consider that it doubles as an MP3 player. But not just any MP3 player. Lined inside this winter cap is a set of headphones that connect to the disc like player that mounts to the back of the hat using a set of special contact points to transfer to the audio. In other words, there are no wires to trip over or tangle, though a slip on the slope might render it, and your head, somewhat useless.

Spec wise, it’s no iPod Touch, though considering it can acheive 8 hours of playback on a single charge via USB, we’re impressed, especially when you consider its slender size and shockingly strange form factor. Controlling your tunes might be a bit of a challenge, though, but at least the center of it glows, which means it can double as a safety light for any of you that jog or ride a bike after sunset.

You can grab it from Chinavasion.

Suffice to say it’s been sometime since we got remotely excited about Swatch’s line of watches. The Swatch Touch is looking mighty fine, though, boasting a simplified design with a touchscreen to boot.

Available in a variety of colors (white, black, blue, purple and red), this watch has 6 total functions: two time settings (presumably for different time zones), a date mode, chronograph, alarm and timer. To switch between the functions, you simply place two fingers on the touchscreen and swipe in either direction. Did we mention there is also a camo version?

You can grab one for about $135.

Thinkgeek has really out done themselves this time.

Just in time for this holiday gift giving is the Electronic Drum Machine Shirt. And guess what? It’s already backordered, which attests to the popularity of this novelty item. Or perhaps they just don’t have any in stock just yet.

Much like the <a href="http://www.gadgetreview.com/2009/10/electronic-guitar-shirt-with-built-in-guitar-and-amp-video.html"title="Guitar T-shirt" >guitar shirt we saw a few years ago, this one includes a real working drum kit on the face of the shirt. But unlike the guitar version, which was limited to just a few notes and chords, this t-shirt turned instrument sports 9 different drum kits with 7 professional grade drum sounds that include: Rock Drums, Retro 808, Discotek, Techno Punk, Classic Jazz, Bass Invaderz, Chiptune, Zapf Dingbats and Scratchy.

We haven’t gotten a hands on yet, so we can’t speak for all the kits, but the ThinkGeek videos demonstrate a variety of Nintendo Mario inspired sounds along with scratch noises from, what else, a turntable. But that’s not all. Built directly into the shirt is a loop machine, allowing you to layer an endless array of drums (as in tracks) on top of one and other up to 3 minutes in length. Did we mention that you can hit all 7 pads simultaneously?

And if you’re anything like us, you’re probably wondering what you can do with those loops once you’ve whittled away the better part of the day creating them? In addition to a mini amp that latches on to your belt for live concerts (on the subway), there is an analog output which should allow you export them to a smartphone, albeit in an analog format. And once you’re done sweating the beat, you can toss it in the wash; it’s laundry machine safe (minus the amp of course).

As mentioned, they’re backordered, but they’ll arrive in a few days for $29.99.

The cassette tape died long ago, and the CD isn’t too far behind at this point thanks to the advent and proliferation of digital music (i.e. iTunes and Napster). As a result those items and their associated devices, such as a Walkman and CD players will be come collector items, and in turn go from antiquated to cool, much like the record player.

And that’s what makes the EOS Mixtape Watch so damn cool. Its case is crafted from anodized black stainless steel, and if you haven’t noticed closely resembles the now defunct cassette tape. According to its product page, both of the “discs” actually spin, while the right one displays the time. The little robot face really has not relevance, while the laser etched “60 min” is a further ode to the original blank cassette used for what else…making mixed tapes for that someone special. Last but not least, it includes a genuine leather strap.

You can grab one for $135.

We’re not sure what happened to <a href="http://www.gadgetreview.com/2010/12/fossil-connected-android-watch-concept.html"title="Fossil Connected Android Watch Concept" >Fossil’s Android Watch, but until that vaporware becomes a reality you can opt for the Caller ID Watch. It doesn’t sport the same tech or features as the aforementioned device, but at the very least you’ll be able to know who is calling your smartphone without removing it from your pocket or bag.

This wrist mounted device pairs with your phone over Bluetooth, where upon it can suck down 1,000 of your contact’s numbers, provided of course your that popular – suffice to say, there is more than enough storage for all your caller IDs. However, to add photos you’ll need to connect it to your computer and while we don’t know what the exact process is to add photos to each number, we do know that it can only store up to 120 photos. Probably not enough for all your contacts, but given that most people probably only receive incoming telephone calls from not more than 10 people, it too should suffice. As an added bonus, this watch will sound an alert when your phone strays 30 feet from you, though last we checked Bluetooth was spec’d for 20-30 meters.

Who else, but Hammacher sells this watch for $149.95.

The Shirt Shuttle may only carry one shirt, but frankly, that’s all we need. Okay, so it’s no destined to end up in your suitcase, unless of course you have one shirt that you absolutely adore, but the Shirt Shuttle is ideal for anyone running around town and doesn’t have time to travel home and change before their next business meeting.

At a glance the Shirt Shuttle’s offering is pretty straight forward; it keeps one shirt wrinkle free no matter how you toss it in a bag. But what you probably didn’t know is that they’ve included a folding board that uses specially curved edges to help the shirt remain crease free and features a built-in hanger for when you arrive at your dressing room. There is also some sort of pad system on the inside to prevent lines from forming in your dress shirt. All this fits neatly inside an ergonomic water resistant, semi-hard shell.

You can buy the Shirt Shuttle for about $45.

It incorporates Phosphor’s e-ink display and by simply tapping or swiping on the screen it allows you to cycle through the different modes. You can select up to 24 times zones and display up to two of them simultaneously. Or if that isn’t your speed, you can set the Phosphor Sport to show the time of day along with the date, or simply just show the time in extra large font. All of this goodness is packed inside a 9.3mm thick body, which is complemented by a water and sweat resistant plastic case and a flexible silicone band available in black, orange or white.

If you get on board now, as in preorder the Phosphor’s World Time Sport, you’ll receive a $20 discount, bringing the total price to $79. They say they plan to ship it in the first week of December, just in time for the holidays.

<a href="http://www.gadgetreview.com/2009/01/gadget-review-vibram-5-fingers-flow-barefoot-shoes.html"title="Gadget Review: Vibram 5 Fingers Flow BareFoot Shoes" >Vibram’s Five Finger shoes have exploded in popularity in the last few years. Hit the gym, or the trail and you’ll see what we mean. A drawback of those particular shoes, though, is cramming your feet into each toe hole. While not impossible to do, and surely something you’ll become acclimated too over time, it will never be as simple as strapping on a pair of normal lace ups. And that’s why we like the ZEMGEAR Men’s 360 Ninja Split shoes.

The total weight of each of these shoes is just 2.5oz each – compare that to Vibram’s offering which start at 5.6oz. But from the sounds of it they haven’t skimped on protection, as they are equipped with a pliable but abrasion robust phylon outsole, which they say is ideal for almost any training environment. To boot, the slip or interior of the shoe will mold to your individual foot shape in about 5-15 minutes of use and the material, which is further supported by a set of “tech bands”, is completely breathable. And in case you haven’t noticed, the tip is split and rounded with the hopes of allowing your toes to articulate and flex without restraint.

You can grab a pair via Amazon or direct from their site for $60. They recommend that you order a half size up from your normal shoe size.

Note: they also make a rounded toe version and a less robust model. Bother start at $35.

A few years ago LG swept us off our tech feet by introducing a phone watch in the vein of Dick Tracy. While it was far from a revolutionary idea, it garned and endless array of press. But eventually it faded into obscurity since the cost was prohibitive and the smartphone market has since been dominated by the Android and iOS operating systems. Now a new contender has emerged called the I’m Watch. They say it will ship in January, but something seems a bit fishy. It might just be the Apple like name as well as website, but since we can’t say for sure if it’s vaporware, and the video shows off what seems to be an actual working prototype we can only assume that it is in fact real.

First things first. The I’m Watch does not sport its own data connection. Nope, it will piggy back off your smartphone’s data package, and despite the I’m Watch’s OS being of the Android Ilk (it’s a custom version) it will work with the iPhone. Much like today’s smartphones you’ll be able to swipe screen to screen on the 1.54-inch 240×240 display, which looks and perhaps even feels very much like today’s iPod Nano. Memory caps at 4GB and RAM is just a mere 64mb. However, since the I’m Watch plays complement to your smartphone, storage shouldn’t be an issue, though we’re a bit concerned about speed given the rather limited RAM.

Calls can be received directly on the watch as well as emails, and you can also play back music via a Bluetooth headset or the 3.5mm headphone jack. According to the I’m Watch’s maker, the battery is good up to 48 hours without Bluetooth (cut that in half with BT turned on) and 3 hours of talk time. Keep in mind, though, that in order to tether to your phone’s data connection Bluetooth will have to be engaged. Unfortunately, there is no WiFi connectivity.

Nonetheless, the I’m Watch looks very polished and let’s not overlook that it’s built in Italy, unlike many of today’s consumer electronic products which are built in a giant factory in China. Pricing starts at about $350, though you can spend a fair bit more when you purchase one of their more opulent versions, such as a version that includes a music subscription, a titanium finish or gold.

A typical shoe store probably has just a few hundred pairs of shoes on display, which seriously limits consumer choices. The adiVERSE shoe wall displays up to 4000 shoes, allowing customers to scroll, zoom and rotate as if they’re holding the real thing.

Okay, so nothing beats holding the physical object. But if anything is gonna come close in terms of a compelling “online experience” it has to be adidas’ adiVERSE shoe wall. In addition to being able to look at the shoes from any angle, you can narrow your choice by selecting gender and then modify the shoes according to your color choice. The Intel Core i7 powered adiVERSE wall can also facilitate the skeptic, by letting consumers read objective reviews and tweets from around the web, good or bad, at least according to adidas.

Selecting new shoes is as easy as using an iPad. Just place your finger on the screen, swipe and the shoes rotate. Once you’ve found a shoe of your liking you can proceed to checkout by entering your initials. Following that an adidas store employee will approach you with a tablet where upon you can complete your purchase or send the desired shoes to the cash desk.

The adiVERSE shoe wall is currently being used in adidas’ flagship store in London, England on Oxford Street.

TAG Heuer’s Mikrotimer watch is a work of beauty. But it’s not this watch’s good looks that make it notable. The Mikrometer can measure up to 1/1000s of a second.

It accomplishes this feat by spinning its internals, or calibers at 500 rotations per second, or 3.6 million times per hour. It’s a dizzying number to comprehend and we can only assume that there aren’t any practical applications.

Despite the Mikrometer’s insane rotations per hour, it probably won’t keep time any better than a $50 watch. But anyone investing in one of these, just as much as any expensive watch, won’t care about that. It’s the prestige and remarkableness of a watch the derives its value. The more rare and strange, the more expensive.

Unfortunately, TAG Heuer has no immediate plans to make the Mikrometer available for purchase. So at this point it’s priceless.
