Heads up, Blackberry owners: screenshots have leaked purporting to show the new Blackberry OS version 6.0. In the shots, what appears to be widgets are displayed on the smartphone’s home screen, which would allow users instant access to things like weather, stocks, and other info. The images are sourced from BBLeaks, who only say that they come from a very reliable source. If it turns out to be true, BB owners are going to be very happy campers soon.

Yesterday Google finally offered the Nexus One unlocked and contract free for $529. Fresh on the heels of the aforementioned news comes word that Sprint has also adopted the Android based smartphone. As of now Sprint is mum on the launch date, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they try to push it out before the end of March to help boost their Q3 numbers. Then again, that might negate some sort of deal, as they’ve been pushing the smartphone on Big Red as ‘coming soon’ for sometime now.

AT&T has their fair share of advanced handsets, but the last thing I thought I’d ever see from them is a game changing wall charger, the Zero Charger. Wall charger you say? Sure did. What sets this one apart from the masses is that it draws absolutely NO power (i.e. vampire power) when plugged in and not in use. Other wall chargers, however, suck down a tiny bit of power regardless of whether or not they’re plugged into a device. Oh, and it’s USB, so it will work for the masses, not just one device.
Currently there is no word on a price or launch date, but you can sign up (I did) to be notified when it is available.

PowerA has been kicking it on the iPhone block for a while, but a few weeks ago they launched their Universal Remote (Control) Case for the iPhone. It’s not the first of it’s type to accomplish this feat, but one of the few that works almost right out of the box. Intended only as a learning remote, the PowerA Universal Remote Case is certainly limited in functionality but what it lacks in feature set is made up for in simplicity.

The case itself consists of two pieces: the bottom which docks into the iPhone’s 30 pin connector and the top, which secures the bottom and protects the iPhone’s back and sides. Accompanying the case is a free downloadable app, The Unviersal Remote App. …Continue reading: PowerA iPhone Universal Remote Case Review

Another day another IR dongle for the iPhone. It’s as if all these company’s got sold the same idea from one door-to-door salemens and forget the exclusivity clause.
In any case, the IRB1, from i-Got-Control, plugs into your iPod Touch’s or iPhone’s 30 pin jack and lets you and your loved ones control your home’s IR gear – yeah, we’ve heard this pitch many times before. Much like PowerA’s offering it can learn commands, but also boasts a database of 40,000 IR codes to control home theater gear, cable boxes and even lighting and HVAC systems. At a glance, the UI doesn’t look half bad, and uses those wonderfully intuitive iPhone OS jog wheels I’ve come to know and love.
The IRB1 will hit the street March 18th for $70.
