Its large 34-inch screen size, impressive ergonomics, high color accuracy, and wide viewing angles make the Gigabyte M34WQ a good pick for casual gaming or office use, but buyers will have to contend with its lack of 2.1 HDMI ports and poor contrast.

Product Snapshot

Overview

The Gigabyte M34WQ is a mid-tier 34-inch Ultrawide gaming monitor that was first announced in 2021. Its144Hz refresh rate delivers smooth graphics for tear-free gaming, and since it also has impressive reflection handling, it is ideal for use in a brightly lit room. Its motion handling is also quite good as a result of its 1ms response time, and this translates to minimal motion blur during fast-moving action scenes. The M34WQ also has a 1440p resolution and supports HDR10 content to deliver a cinematic viewing experience.

Consensus

our Verdict

The Gigabyte M34WQ is a 34-inch gaming monitor that reviewers felt would be a great pick for casual gaming as well as office use. Thanks to its matte-anti glare finish, reviewers from Rtings lauded it for its impressive reflection handling and confirmed that it would be great for use in a brightly lit office space or environment. They were also impressed with its fast response time and credited this to its lack of motion blur during fast-action scenes. Its high color accuracy was also hailed by experts, leading them to the conclusion that it would be ideal for color-critical work. Testers from DisplayNinja also praised its support for both FreeSync and G-Sync technology, and thanks to its 144Hz refresh rate, they did not come across any screen tearing when gaming.

Unfortunately, they were not impressed with two things: its low contrast ratio and lack of HDMI 2.1 ports. Its low contrast ratio made it hard to view in a dark room, and its missing HDMI 2.1 ports meant that it wouldn’t be compatible with modern consoles.
