Well that didn’t take long. Just one day after the new MMORPG WildStar made its debut to the PC gaming world, The Elder Scrolls Online can be had for half price at a main line retailer. Today at 1pm Eastern, GameStop dropped the digital download key (non-box copy) from $59.99 to $29.99 – the lowest price to date (and given its only two months that’s not much price history to look at).

The instant discounts are both set to expire at the end of the week on Sunday, June 8th. The Imperial Edition deal will end even soon, as the coupon code expires Friday, June 6th at 9am Pacific.

Unprecedented price drops? The Elder Scrolls Online was unquestionably one of the biggest 2014 video game releases, launching only 2 months ago on April 4th. However, there appears to be the trend in PC video games. Not long after Call of Duty: Ghosts and Battlefield 4‘s late 2013 release, the PC gaming Winter sales saw in excess of 50% price drops.
