nike 3d printed bag

Nike is seriously changing the sports apparel industry. Not only do their shoes and products feature the most innovative technologies that help up your game, but they’re now creating bags made from 3D printers. Meet the Nike Football Rebento Duffel bag that’s made with a 3D printed base. Only three bags have been made and will be carried by Neymar Jr., Wayne Rooney and Christiano Ronaldo later this summer at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Each bag features a premium leather upper and custom gold hardware with each of the player’s name.

The bag’s 3D printed base gives the bag its body and creates a lightweight, yet durable structure that allows for more flexibility. It’s then combined with laser-sintered nylon to create an intertwined weave on the base which was inspired Nike’s Flyknit pattern on its new soccer (or football) shoes – the Magista and Mercurial. They’ve also created 3D printed shin guards – the Mercurial FlyLite shin guard – that features a webbed shock absorption system that replaces the form in traditional shin guards. This provides more consistent impact protection than standard foam and flexes better (in addition to breathing better, too). Sounds pretty cool, right? As of now, there are no plans to make the bag available to the general public, but if you’re a soccer player, you can get the shin guards on Nike’s site July 1st with price TBD.
