Here we are, on our 4th consecutive Weekly Gaming Report. Time just keeps on ticking and so does the madcap world of video games. We had another exciting week in the industy. Arguably the two biggest titles of the year will be playable in some form, later this very month. I’m talking about Ubisoft’s heavy-hitter hack-fest Watch_Dogs–a 3rd person open-world RPG adventure title and Star Citizen. This second is a PC dynamo aiming to be an action packed space sim with all the trimmings. Plus it’s running on the virtual eye candy game engine known as the CryEngine 3. Not only that, it still holds the crown for the most successful Kickstarter crowd-funding project to-date. Impressive stuff! So why don’t we begin right there.
1. Star Citizen May 29th Arena Commander
Chris Roberts came out the gate last week in his Arena Commander Weekly Report, promising the highly anticipated playable dogfighting module will be available for current Star Citizen pilots who supported the game with ship purchases. Become a backer here if you’re interested in what all the fuss is about. Until the module goes live all ship owners have been able to walk around their varied hangars and board their ships. But flight has been out of our reach until this May 29th. Read the full scope for the Dogfighting Module roll out here.
2. Far Cry 4 Announced
Ubisoft has finally officially annonced the sequel to 2012’s top FPS shooter – Far Cry 3. The 4th installment is slated for Nov 18th here in the States on Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Windows PC, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. It will be another open world shooter, this time set high in the Himalayan mountains in a ficitional dubbed Kyrat. First gameplay of the game will be shown this Summer at E3. Yet you can pre-order the game to gain access to Hurk’s special single player missions and his harpoon gun – The Impaler. Far Cry 3 players should be familiar with surly character.
3. Division Delayed to 2016?!
The crazy news last week? Our beloved Division from Ubisoft would be delayed to the n2d half of 2015. That stung enough as it was. Now just yesterday the developer is labeling the 2015 date as “optimistic”. They state the game should have never been given and 2014 release window.
‘It felt like being punched in the face to be perfectly honest. At the end of the day we don’t want to do a Battlefield 4 and release an unfinished game. There’s too much potential in the concept that is The Division at the moment, that we’ve asked for more time and resources in order to fully realise this fantastic vision.’
An anonymous dev is quoted saying there are a number of components that just aren’t working in the game yet such as the multiplayer.
4. Battlefield 4 Dragon Teeth
This next DLC installment will bring 4 new maps, new game modes and a ton of new weapons. One of the new weapons is a chrome Desert Eagle aka the Deagle. The SRSS Buldog assault rifle looks especially taste. A riot shield is also on the list.
5. Steam In-Home Game Streaming now LIVE
Steam In-Home Game Streaming is finally out of beta and available to everyone with a working Steam account. 6. Walking Dead Season 2 Episode 3
Prepare to make more hard choice, some of which will certaintly decide the fate of someone close to you. 8. Titanfall Removing CTF and Pilot Hunter
In another bit of Titanfall news, PC gamers may be a bit P.O.’d to find their beloved CTF and Pilot Hunter game modes have been removed from their separate playlists. They are still playable on Private Matches but stats are not tallied here causing somewhat of an uproar. Respawn assures players that new modes are being worked on and CTF and Pilot Hunter are not gone for good. You can read more about that here.
9. The Witcher 3 Delayed
I’m so upset about this one. Boohoo. Pardon me while I cry a river over here. But The Witcher is yet another victim of the highly contagious pathogen of postponement. Thankfully CD Projekt Red is a proven outfit of developer who are still completely independent and not beholden to publisher barons. The extra polish is only pushing the mature-theme open world action RPG to a February 2015 release for Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC.
10. Wolfenstein Launch Trailer
