World Cup Fever? Just need a bigger screen HDTV but 1080p FHD is so 2008? Sony’s 65-inch class XBR65X850A is now slightly more affordable as we spot price slashes across the board, with most retailers offering the model well above $3,000 as a mini price war wages on.

Here are the best prices we’ve seen, from lowest to highest:

The BuyDig offer is a solid $200 cheaper than major retailer Amazon or Best Buy. All deals above requires you to add to cart to see the price (although you can cheat and click on Amazon’s link to see the noted price). This is because all retailers are selling well below Sony’s own $3,200 price – and this model typically retails around $3,300.

The XBR-65X850A comes with HDMI 2.0 support (via a free upgrade), built-in WiFi, dynamic Edge LED backlight, 3D format support with 4x glasses. Viewing angle is a decent 178 degree vertical or horizontal while the dynamic contrast ratio is over 1 million. For this high-end UHDTV you’ll obviously be getting local dimming.

Is $2,800 the price point for a 4K UHDTV? I suppose we’ll find out.

Extra note on the BuyDig offer. You won’t see the price until you reach the final stage of checkout and enter all your payment details. Here’s a screenshot of what you’ll see before you place your order:
