“Clipless” pedals, so in quotes because they do actually feature clips, are great for long-range cycling. They keep your feet attached to the pedal and transfer more energy to your bike. They really make a difference.
Unfortunately, you also need cleats to click in and use them in the first place, and they can be uncomfortable to walk around it. Which is where FlyPedals come in.
Click It And Forget It
Essentially, FlyPedals make your bike pedals convertible. When you need the clipless pedals to go long distances, just click in with your cleats and get pedalling. When you need platform pedals for, say, short trips to the bar or the grocery store, click them in and you’ve got the pedal you need, not to mention the ability to walk in comfort.
A Wide Variety
Helping matters is the incredibly clever design. This being the cycling industry, every kind of clipless pedal requires a different configuration of cleats. The FlyPedal is designed to fit the majority of popular clipless types. Another nice design touch is that they’re machined from solid aluminum, making them light, strong, and easy to tuck into your pocket. You don’t need to worry about your gadgets being stolen… although admittedly you will probably still want to lock up your bike.
Pedal To Metal
Of course, you still need to buy these, and that’s where the Kickstarter comes in. Currently, a pair are available for $35, although if you wait for retail these will run around $40. Either way, though, they’re a lot cheaper than buying an entirely new bike just to ride to the grocery store, and it also means you’ll get a lot more value out of your current ride. And that’s probably the best reason to get these in the first place; who wants to pay $1000 for another bike?
