Audi has announced its latest special edition vehicle, and it’s impressive. But you already knew that was going to be the case; it’s not like Audi phones these kinds of things in. But what do you get specifically for your money? A lot of flash, and a lot of high end features standard.

1. Flashy Exteriors

First off, yes, this is very flashy, as befits a car that costs nearly $150,000. Yes, we said $150,000. What, you thought an Audi special edition would be a budget car? And a lot of that money will be going to the exterior. It comes with 21-inch glossy black wheels, bright red brake calipers, and, of course, plenty of carbon fiber in the form of a splitter, diffuser, and an engine cover. That said, if you want a wider range of colors, that’s going to have to be a custom job: There are only stock four colors. Well, three, since two of them are shades of gray, but white and black are also options.

2. Comfy Interiors

Needless to say, the interiors are just as fancy as the exteriors. You’ve got leather trim in Black Valcona, and there’s crimson stitching everywhere from the dashboard to the gearshift. Oh, and naturally, there’s some carbon fiber in the interior, as well.

3. Dynamic Ride Control As Standard

First of all, Audi’s Dynamic Ride Control system comes standard, which is a major mark in this particular vehicle’s favor. If you’re not a fan of Audi, this might change your mind; essentially the system is linked to the transmission, differential and steering to shift into one of three modes to ensure that you get the smoothest ride possible. Yeah, you’re not going to be going off-road in this puppy any time soon, but you will be able to get a much smoother ride out of the deal.

4. A High-Performance Engine

Honestly, this actually isn’t a change from the standard Audi RS 7, but it’s still an impressive engine. For your money, you get the twin-turbocharged 4.0 liter V8 that made the RS 7 such a speed demon, and which can go 0-60 in 3.7 seconds. Having 560 horsepower will do that! So, while it’s not a change, it arguably doesn’t need one.

Is It Worth The Money?

All that said, at a third more than the standard RS 7, the price is going to give all but the most hardcore Audi fans a bit of pause. It’s true that special editions aren’t exactly created to be street cars or bought right off the lot; they’re special for a reason. But is it really worth the nearly $150,000 you’re going to pay to put this in your garage?

Honestly, that engine paired with Audi’s DRS system makes this car worth it on a basic level, although it’s true that you can get both features in other cars from Audi. In the end, it really boils down to how cool you want to look behind the wheel, since that’s where a lot of the energy went. And you are going to look cool; it’s up to you if you’ll look $150,000 worth of cool.
