Apple may still be dominating a corner of the market, but Samsung is increasingly taking center stage with its products. And the upcoming Galaxy S5 will continue that trend, especially since Samsung is planning a big debut at the Mobile World Congress.
A Galaxy Of Devices
The S5 was all but inevitable, of course. The Galaxy line of smartphones are one of Samsung’s most popular products, and have been since they were introduced. Of course, every new phone is greeted with a round of rumors, and the Galaxy S5 is no exception. So what might we be in for, when Samsung rolls out its new flagship?
Steps Up, But No Leaps
First of all, according to rumor, all the rumored wacky and wild ideas, like the 4K screen and the iris scanner, have apparently hit the cutting room floor, or at least they have on the Galaxy. Odd ideas that first crop up in the Galaxy tend to appear on other Samsung products at a later date, so expect at least a little weirdness. Instead it’s going, from all accounts, to be an upgrade to the specifications and Samsung plans to leave it at that; the biggest news is that Samsung will be improving its security software in order to appeal more to businesses. We also won’t see any weird sexist Broadway numbers to introduce the phone, so apparently Samsung is learning.
It’s likely that the Galaxy S5 will follow the path that its fellow phones took to the market; it’ll debut soon at the Mobile World Congress and probably be on the market by spring. We’ll be keeping an eye out, of course, and we’ll have more as we get closer to the phone’s debut. In the meantime, spend a little time speculating about where Samsung might put that quad-HD screen; we’d love to see it on a tablet.
