Smartphones are getting bigger day-by-day. This, as result, makes them pretty decent gaming devices, especially Android handsets which are as big as 6.4-inches — Sony Xperia Z Ultra. To help gamers make the most of their devices, Samsung unveiled their own gaming console, Samsung Gamepad, that allows users to play games on their handsets using console-like controller. And all that, for just £59 (almost $100).
GamePad is attachable to mobile devices ranging from 4-inches to 6.3-inches, and gives users a gaming experience like no other, and can connect to devices via Bluetooth as well. This can be quite handy as users can also connect Galaxy devices to their TV through an HDMI cable or AllShare Screen Mirroring for an all-round gaming experience.
Obviously, the controller will not give you a similar gaming experience as Xbox One or PS4 controller. But, hey, you are just paying $100 for it so that you can enjoy mobile gaming on your handset, while its going to cost you way higher if you decide to go for a proper gaming console.
It will give you a similar feel as the console controller and comes with a eight way D-Pad, 2 analog sticks, four action buttons, two trigger buttons, – Select button and Start button and a PLAY button which is only compatible with Samsung devices with Android 4.3 or higher.
It also comes with Mobile Console app, which does not only works in conjunction with the Gamepad, but also filters the list of games in the Google Play Store that are compatible with the console. It comes with a 160mAh rechargeable battery, which can provide users with a pretty decent battery time.
Unfortunately, the GamePad is only compatible with Samsung’s line of smartphones, especially the Galaxy line up running Android 4.1 or higher. Currently, the Samsung Gamepad is available in Korea and select European markets, with more regions to follow in the coming months.
