Grew up back East, got sick of the cold and headed West. Since I was small I have been pushing buttons - both electronic and human. With an insatiable need for tech I thought "why not start a blog focusing on technology, and use my dislikes and likes to post on gadgets."

My wife and i have owned 4 misfits now. While the units worked reasonably well while they worked 2 of them had to be returned because they stopped working after about 5 -6 weeks. All the straps and clips broke. Eventually we lost the last 2 because of the broken straps. As the straps broke i glued the tracker unit back into the strap.this worked for a while but even this was not enough. Misfit needs to reengineer the claps and strips to be more robust and with strap locks similar to a watch so they cannot be so easily undone.
The whole thing needs to be more ROBUST. It is getting expensive to replace these units so frequently.

I am going to now look at the Fitbit as an alternate.

  2. I bought a misfit shine because my fitbit broke a while back and I thought I”d try something new. I do not not want to wear a rubber bracelet on my wrist, so I like the idea of something I can hide on my waist. And, I was really looking forward to the crystal misfit. I have been running many of the same route for years and almost always track my route with the GPS on my phone; I am very disappointed to find that misfit constantly exaggerates the milage.

It seems to be a problem amongst many pedometers/wearables. The Fuelband did it, though the second version was more accurate. It would seem your best bet is a GPS watch.

  3. I bought my device about 3 months ago. Recently I have been unable to sync it for weeks at a time. I followed the troubleshooting directions carefully and the device operated for one day and the problem returned. I really liked the idea of having a device I could wear at all times, but am extremely disappointed that it no longer works. It was a waste of money for me. Very unsatisfied and sorry that I bought one for a Christmas gift thinking it was operator error.
