When announced, the Moto G was due to ship some time in early 2014. But now, according to Motorola’s page, you can preorder the device and expect shipping as of 12/2. Cost? It remains the same at $179. It’s not the latest and greatest, like Google’s Nexus 5, but for the cash it’s a steal, especially for those that can’t or won’t sign another contract. Yes, that price is off contract.
Just a few things to note before you take the plunge: it’s limited to 3G connectivity, albeit HSPA+, which is plenty fast on AT&T. The screen measures 4.5-inches, and KitKat (aka Android 4.4), likely won’t make its way to the device until 2014. Lastly, an extra $20 scores you double the capacity; 16GB.
