We all have to get up in the morning to go get things done, whether it’s going to a job, looking for a job, or doing work around the house. And it can be hard to get the motivation you need from a beeping sound. So how about a device on your nightstand that attempts to depress the hell out of you?
Cause For Alarm
That’s the idea behind the ALARMclock. As you might have guessed, the “alarm” in question is how the clock is supposed to make you feel. It will wake you up with such joyful information as how many Facebook friends you have, what your bank balance currently is, or your projected life expectancy. Yes, no matter what you have that terrifies you, it can be connected to ALARMclock.
Tick Of The Clock
It’s actually a pretty cool clock, even if you find the uses it’s put to a wee bit depressing. The “face” of the clock is actually an 8×32 LED display capable of simple graphics (most commonly a skull for obvious reasons) that can display red, green, and yellow. It’s got WiFi and USB, and the whole thing is powered and run by a Raspberry Pi chip. You can even configure it with a custom app, although one has to question the feeling of security you’d get connecting this thing to your bank statements. Anyway, if you’re that paranoid, get a clock with a camera in it.
Time Keeps On Slipping
True, not all of us enjoy being terrified every morning by our financial instability, our limited social circle, or the encroaching embrace of death. But some of us are very motivated by it, or at least motivated enough to get out of bed to shut the damn thing off. If you need a little emphasis to get out of bed, you can get it off Kickstarter for $85.
