Ah, the Stormtrooper. One of the most iconic images in Star Wars, the Imperial Stormtrooper is simultaneously an awesome design and a reminder that cool armor can’t make you a crack shot. And now, you can get their helmet!

Looks Like The Work Of Rebels, Sir

First, to answer the most important question; this helmet is on a 1:1 scale, so if you were looking to slap it on your head, in fact, you can! It’s even got breathing holes and padding so you too can run around with no peripheral vision and discover just how hard it is to use a blaster. Really you’re probably already sold, but let’s run through the other features.

Death Star Chic

First of all, this isn’t a knock-off; it’s an officially licensed Lucasfilm product. In fact, the mold for this helmet was created by scanning one of the original props in the Lucasfilm archives, the helmet worn by stuntmen, so it’s as close as you’re going to get to a real Stormtrooper helmet without finding a wormhole and discovering a galaxy far, far away. It’s cast from ABS plastic, so it’s relatively light for a giant noggin container. The only downside is that it doesn’t have the black convex lenses from the original movie, opting instead for some green lenses that make it easier to see.

Also, this isn’t quite authentic enough for massive nerds; Star Wars cosplay brigade the 501st has said that the helmet, while fun for fans, would need to be heavily modified to meet that group’s standards. So it’s not perfect. On the other hand, where else are you going to be able to slap on a helmet and instantly revert to a six-year-old, sprinting around giggling? If you want to relive your nerdy childhood, this is $170 at ThinkGeek.
