Bluetooth speakers are every where you look these days. Few have done much to separate themselves from one and other. There is the UE Boom, Jawbone Jambox, and many others. JBL on the other hand is taking a new and some what novel approach with the JBL Pulse.
Yes, it’s shape and setup is analogous to that of the JBL Charge. Yet, instead of charging up your 5v devices with an onboard battery, it include a panel of LED lights that can bounce to the beat of your tunes.
The portable Bluetooth speaker ships with 5 pre-programmed light themes. But if that isn’t enough to satiate your visual hunger, you can either program your own (brightness and colors) or download JBL’s own creations.
The JBL Pulse‘s battery is said to last up to 10 hours on audio only, or 5 hours in total when both the LED panel and speakers are active. And speaking of speakers, there are 40mm drivers on board, so sound quality should be reasonably good. For those with NFC enabled phones, you’ll be able to simply touch your handset to the speaker and automatically pair the two via Bluetooth without the hassle of multiple button presses.
The JBL Pulse ships 11/10/2013 for $200.
Grew up back East, got sick of the cold and headed West. Since I was small I have been pushing buttons - both electronic and human. With an insatiable need for tech I thought "why not start a blog focusing on technology, and use my dislikes and likes to post on gadgets."
