Who would have ever thought that a smartphone could be life saving…literally? A Florida gas attendant’s life was saved by his HTC smartphone during a recent holdup by gunpoint in an Orlando suburb. A man looking to rob the gas station walked in yesterday morning at 4;45 am and showed the man his revolver while demanding that the safe be opened. When the clerk wasn’t able to fulfill the request, the robber asked demanded again before firing a round at the clerk as he tried to flee knowing that he wouldn’t get the money. The clerk who was shot didn’t realize he was until he pulled out his smartphone from his shirt pocket, still in shock from the robbery. HTC got wind of the robbery and life-saving phone and Tweeted a picture of a care package they will be sending to the clerk that includes a new phone and more HTC goodies. Smartphones have become our world and for this lucky man it was his savior.
