Paper airplanes are no longer just paper airplanes thanks to the folks at Power Up Toys. First they came to market with just a motor system that could power a paper airplane beyond the usual 3-5 seconds of flight. And now they’ve got a kit that converts a paper airplane into an iPhone controllable RC plane. Don’t believe me? Just check out their product video.
The PowerUp 3.0 is very much like their last product, only there is an iPhone app that lets you control flight. The deets are pretty sparse, but it would appear that you can not only control the paper airplane’s direction of flight, but view a live POV feed directly on the iPhone’s screen. Needless to say, range will be rather limited, but convenience and simplicity of such a toy easily out weighs that caveat.
Sorry, no word on a price or launch date. However, PowerUp Toys is about to kick off their beta roll out. If you want to participate hit their site and sign up.
