If there’s one problem with chargers, it’s the fact that they eat up a lot of outlet real estate. Even though charging bricks have gotten smaller and lighter, they still eat up room you might need. This is where the SPMFI1 comes in.
It Has The Power
We’ll wait for the Masters of The Universe theme song to finish running through your head.
You good? OK, let’s talk outlets. The SPMFI1 is essentially four tools in one; it’s an outlet splitter, taking the single outlet you plug it into and making it a three outlet deal. It’s an iPhone dock charger, where you can simply slot your iPhone into the top of the device and charge it up, although that comes with the caveat that this looks like a thirty-pin connector deal instead of the Lightning charger we know and love. It’s a USB charger, for those moments when you need to jack in an Android device. And it’s a nightlight because, well, heck, you’ve got it in the outlet, right?
What interests us the most about this is the fact that it combines so many chargers into one without losing an outlet. Outlets are increasingly premium real estate on your wall; everybody’s got computers that need charging, for example. This keeps the outlets, and in fact increases them, which is undeniably useful.
Still Needs A Refresh
That said, if you’re planning on upgrading your iPhone in the near future, you’re probably not going to get the most out of this, which is kind of a shame. Being able to charge up your devices all at once is an incredibly useful feature, so hopefully a Lightning version of this is on the way. Regardless, if you’d like to socket this into your wall, it won’t set you back very much: It’s currently on Amazon for $30.
